Villa Serene is awesome. That's really all you need to know. Visit. Relax. Enjoy. The ambiance is perfect. The chef is excellent.

We rented Villa Serene for our family vacation. There were 11 of us (8 adults and 3 kids age 16,14, 8) and the accommodations were perfect. The house is beautiful and everyone is so kind and extremely helpful. Shamoir cooked for us for the week and he is truly one of the nicest people we have ever met. He made some traditional Jamaican dishes that were fantastic. He also makes killer fried chicken. We loved it so much we had him make it twice during our week stay. He truly has an amazing gift with his cooking! He will go to the grocery and market with you to help decide what food to get, etc. While he does stay on property, you don’t even know she is there. He was so helpful with ANYTHING we needed. He helped schedule transportation to and from the market, our boat ride over to Pelican Bar, etc. Shamoir is an absolute gem! Sheryl was always quick to respond to any questions we had before and during our trip. And even called a local doctor to come to the house when something happened to my sister-in-law. Sheryl also arranged our transportation to and from the airport as well as to Appleton Estate and YS Falls. Clifford, our driver, was AMAZING. He shared so much with us along our drives about the history of Jamaica, plants/agriculture, customs, etc. He is super funny and made our long drives go by so much faster. The only negatives were nothing that can be controlled. Unfortunately, the mosquitos come out right after sunset when we wanted to eat dinner outside. The main areas of the house aren’t air conditioned so they get quite hot in the evening. The other was jelly-fish. Both my stepdaughter and niece got stung when we got in the ocean. The water is pretty murky so you didn’t see the jellyfish to avoid them. Luckily the pool is amazing so that is where we spent our time for the week. Overall, this truly was a vacation our family will never forget. My husband and I had been to Jamaica 2x before but to the resort areas. It was really nice to not be on a resort! Everything at Villa Serene was perfect. The setting of the villa, the amenities, the location, the access to the beach and to the Pelican Bar, I could go on for ever.. Needless to say, Sheryl and her team are super awesome. Shamoir is not only a great cook, but also a gem to have around the villa 24x7. He disappears as soon as his work is done, but at the same time, is just a shout away to arrange for anything from a cab, to a boat ride, to a run to get fish, etc. You need anything you call Shamoir and it will be arranged. We can't wait to head back there next year! Not related to the villa, but the only concern around the villa was that there was no real clean place to sit on the beach. Next time, I am going to ask Sheryl to clean up some area right outside the villa to lay out towels and beach chairs, so that we can hang out without having to worry about stepping on cow dung or dog poop :)!

Vacation of a lifetime. Great beach, kid friendly, in house cook Shamir is amazing food when you need it, great guy to visit with and he takes great care of you! Pool is so refreshing, clean grounds, see a cashew tree, lots of flowers. A true home away from home. Cleaning gal excels in towel art and there is a new piece every morning on your bed. Gate to the beach, beach was very clean. You can see the Pelican bar from shore and any of the locals will take you out there for just $20. We walked down two doors one evening and enjoyed a game of dominos with some kiddos Roger and Amelia. I cannot recommend this property enough, and I am well then a versed traveler and have stayed at many a resort. For a true taste of Jamaica this is it! We will be returning!!!

Everything from our driver Clifford to the last details of our trip handled by Sheryl were perfect. Shamoir is such a good cook and all around great person. He became one of our group and we enjoyed his company very much. We barely knew Suzette was around (in a good way), but everything was always well taken care of. The goats and neighbor kids were charming. We did trips with Clifford to Blue Hole, Negril, Rick's Cafe, YS Falls and a lunch trip to Treasure Beach. All arranged by Sheryl. We also had a great trip with Captain Dennis, visiting Black River, Pelican Bar and a private beach lunch of lobster and fish. Thanks again to Sheryl, Shamoir, Suzette and Clifford for a wonderful vacation.

Sheryl and her staff were absolutely amazing! Shamoir made some great meals and was super accommodating to our requests. He went and got us fresh lobster one day, it was delicious. The bugs are off the hook there though, I’d suggest bringing citronella candles as the OFF spray seemed to do nothing. Highly recommend this rental.

Our family of six thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Villa Serene. The villa is as pictured, and we enjoyed the beach, pool and beautiful sunsets every night. Sheryl (the owner) helped us explore nearby Appleton Estates, YS Falls, the Black River safari and Treasure Beach by arranging for friendly, knowledgeable drivers. Sophie (the housekeeper) made sure we were always supplied with fresh towels and clean rooms, and don't miss the opportunity to have Shamoire cook for you. We enjoyed curries, fish, lobster and amazing breakfasts every day. Shamoire lives on the property and handled all our needs. The Pelican Bar is right across the water, so walk down the beach and have Tyrone take you over to enjoy a rum drink or Red Stripe. The water by the bar is crystal clear. Parottee Pond is right across the street, so bring insect repellent, as the mosquitoes do come out every evening. This location is out of the busy, touristy, cruise ship crowd, so if you are looking for a great way to see the real Jamaica, come to the Villa Serene and enjoy a very wonderful holiday.

This is not your ordinary vacation rental! Situated in a small fishing village (not a resort town), Villa Serene's beautiful back yard filled with fruit trees and beautiful flowers, is right on the ocean. You can see the Pelican bar in the distance and Tyrone (a neighbor) will gladly take you there. During our stay, we met neighbors who wanted us to learn about their culture and politics. They were eager to teach us about Jamaica and we were happy to learn. We enjoyed daily visits by the neighbor goats, pigs, and dogs. I could watch baby goats eat mango leaves all day long!! We were a group of cooks so we only took advantage of Shamoir's (sp?) chef services twice. He accompanied us to the grocery store to help us choose ingredients for a special dinner one night. He tidied up after us many times which was something we had to get used to. He made a fresh pot of coffee for us on our first morning and was a pleasure to have on site. Villa Serene was clean and well maintained. The cleaning staff was in and out and did a great job. We enjoyed the pool most of every day although it rained on us a tiny bit. My only complaint was that the outdoor hot tub wasn't a hot tub. It had bubbles but the water was the same temp as the rest of the pool. It would have been great to soak in the tub when the sun went down. Also, watch out for the man eating mosquitos. We had to buy bug spray and then ended up coming inside to hide in the evenings. There were 8 of us and we had plenty of room for everyone to feel comfortable, just like home. All in all, wonderful memories were made at the Pelican bar, YS falls, horseback riding, and wandering down the beach. Sheryl- well done and thank you!

Villa Serene exceeded our expectations. It's right on the beach!! I booked this place for myself and 8 of my close friends for an early birthday trip. Upon arrival, Cheryl greeted us to show us around the villa and even had birthday cake waiting for me. She was very helpful even before we arrived with answering questions for locations for groceries, restaurants, bars and things to do. I would suggest going to YS Falls and Black River Safari for sure!! We had a blast swinging from the rope into the waterfalls and we even went for a swim on the safari tour. Pelican Bar is must as well as having a few drinks at Las Vegas!! If you enjoy fresh fish, walk over to Basil's!! We met him while walking along the beach and he showed us his fresh catches of the day!! We rented vehicles to explore Negril since it was about an hour and a half away. Our GPS worked fine, but the roads conditions were pretty bad in areas and lots of blind corners. Thanks again Sheryl for everything!!! Shamoir was a pleasure to have around!! Please let us know when you come to Vegas for sure!!! Thank you Tracy for keeping the place nice and tidy for us!! We really enjoyed ourselves and it's a place we will never forget!!

The villa was great so beautiful and the host were so nice. When we went we brought the whole family and enjoyed ourselves. We had a fun time in the pool. Then jumped out and went straight for the ocean. The villa is located very close to pelican bar (which is a cool bar located in the middle of the ocean) all you have to do is walk down to Bass's pay for a boat ride who'll take you to the bar. We hang out at the bar until the chef was done preparing dinner. This is a place where our 97 year old Grandma and our 6 month old baby both had a great time. The whole experience was so peaceful and enjoyable we will be coming back again.
