Without a doubt, this is the perfect place to let stress just dissipate , relax and get back to a simple life. We loved it so much that we are coming back in April of 2023 instead of booking a European River Cruise. The cabin was beautifully appointed with all of the creature comforts and we hiked down to the barn and creek twice a day with the dogs to give apples to Lily, the horse. A massive Walmart is just minutes away and has anything you could need. We drove in to the Bavarian style town of Helen and had a wonderful time experiencing the German food and also into Dahlonega where quaint little restaurants are dotted all along the circle. But our favorite spot was back at the cabin. We relaxed on the outdoor deck, grilled steaks and just marveled at the changing leaves. Internet was strong but I never turned my computer on. We watched a couple of movies but mostly just relaxed. This is a true "getaway".

Old Bear Lodge is rustic, cozy and charming! Just a short walk down the backyard hill to Tate Creek and a little waterfall as the creek runs into the Chestatee River. Great deck and gas grill outside the screened porch (with sauna). Fire pit in the yard. Great Wi-Fi signal. Peaceful and quiet, and The owners make sure you’re well taken care of! We’ll definitely be back!!

This cabin was everything we could have wanted and more. My fiance and I had never been to Dahlonega and we decided to make a little Christmas trip out of it. This cabin was the absolute perfect backdrop to a wonderful Christmas vacation. We were far enough away that we truly felt like we were in the mountains but also close enough to town and all the attractions that we wanted to do. Ms. Anita was a great host and any questions we had she was very responsive. We also like that it was pet friendly so we could bring our dog, Lady, and she felt right at home. I would highly reccomend this place to anyone looking for a getaway and we will definitely be back. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

The cabin was Awesome and the surrounding area was perfect!! Very relaxing atmosphere!! Cabin couldn’t offer any more, everything was perfect!! Nestled in the woods with the river and wildlife right there for you to enjoy, even had the owner’s sweet pup to greet us!! My son and I want to thank you both for a great weekend getaway and we’ll be back!! Everything was nice and tidy and the kitchen was great for our dinning in for every meal!! Thanks again!!

The cabin is very rustic but had everything we needed from Kurig coffee pot to hair dryer to binoculars for bird watching. We really enjoyed listening to the whip-pour-wills every morning and evening. The owner Anita was very, very helpful.

I just returned from the most relaxing two day escape at Old Bear Cabin. The home is cozy, comfortable and has everything needed for comfort. No WIFI and No Cable made this even more special. I reveled in nature, reading, hiking and yoga as the sun rose over the treetops. Anita was an exquisite host who went out of her way to be sure I was comfortable. Even brought me an umbrella when a storm was impending on the radar. I went out one evening and came home to find a lovely loaf of zucchini bread at my doorstep. It made my morning coffee even more special. Don't miss the opportunity to truly get away from the distractions. Cell service is fine here but all other connections are not and you won't miss them!

Our stay was wonderful, very quiet and peaceful. Lots of running room for our dogs. Anita was was so gracious to get us in at short notice. The cabin was very rustic and quaint and we loved sitting out on the screened porch in the evening. The cabin is far from luxurious, but more like a quiet 40s country cabin.

We absolutely loved this cabin. The owners have taken very good care of this cabin. The lady that I spoke with was very sweet and very helpful. We truly didn't want to leave. If we ever stay in Dahlonega again, we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere other than at this cabin.

This cabin is perfect for a getaway. It feels secluded but in a convenient location at the same time. It has a beautiful cozy rustic decor. This is the second cabin we have stayed at which belongs to this owner. Very classy from the William Sonoma plates to the Polo towels. No details left undone. We saw rabbits, deer, and ate blackberries on the property. Can't wait to go back.
