Emerald Hill is een rustige residentiële oase vlak bij het centrum en Orchard Road. 313 Somerset, Lady M Cake Shop en Library at Orchard zijn slechts enkele van de voordelen van het leven in deze historische straat. Voorheen een nootmuskaatplantage, werd het gebied vanaf de jaren 1900 een woonwijk. In de jaren dertig werd een groot deel van de straat bezet door Chinese families in Straits, afstammelingen van vroege Chinese immigranten die trouwden met de lokale bevolking en zich in Zuidoost-Azië vestigden. De wijk werd in 1989 als beschermd gebied geëvalueerd, waardoor we konden blijven genieten van ons prachtige architecturale erfgoed.
