AN SCRIN is Awesome!
I stayed at An Scrin for 3 days in Mid-May 2024 with my Girlfriend and 2 of her Friends. We are all Americans in our 60's. I loved staying there. I love Teelin and Donegal.
An Scrin was clean...spotless...when we arrived. Everything was comfortable. The living room was quite nice. The kitchen was well equipped. There was a washer that was easy to use. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were nice. It was Very Quiet at night. It was Home. I loved staying there.
Tania and Martin were so friendly and responsive to us.
An Scrin is right next to The Rusty Mackerel Pub, which is awesome for drinks, dinner, and music. We walked there several times. An Scrin is a quick ride to Teelin Pier for one of Paddy Byrne's boat rides. It is also walking distance to the Sliabh Liag Cliffs Visitor center for a shuttle bus up to the cliffs. My GF and I walked to the nearest town...Carrick...for Church on Sunday Morning...and to get supplies for our stay.
An Scrin is an awesome place to stay. I hope I get back to Teelin soon. Next time, I'm staying a week at An Scrin. Perry from Chicago, USA.

A perfect break.
The house was fantastic. Loads of room for 10 guests and very clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed.
The outside garden was safe had lots of room for the kids to play and explore.
We walked from the house out to teelin pier and also walked the new path along the salmon leap into Carrick.
Sliabh Liag is only 4km away, and must see, really beautiful.
We loved our stay.

Fantastic place to stay
2nd trip to this beautiful house, my sister Mary Farnan and I spent two weeks here in July and the sun was shining quite a lot, we love walking and were in the ideal place to explore lots of the walks in this and surrounding areas, we were joined by family for different weeks and they all young and old loved it. The house is well equipped and the garden is great, we bbq and had a big fire on a wet night. Would absolutely go back and do intend to. We didnt meet the owner but anything we asked for was there. The rusty mackeral at the gate is handy but we would say since our visit in 2021 has gone down a bit food wise but the pints were lovely. We discovered Kellys kitchen in the Slieve League inn and that was lovely and very reasonable, and most days we went up to Ti Linn the little coffee shop for lunch and we loved it. So close to Glencolmcille and Silver strand and Ardara so much to see, we also did the slieve league boat trip at the pier and it was fantastic, the captain was lovely and gave us lots of information. Great for kids and adults and he even let one of the young kids have a go steering the boat. The house is very comfy, lots of towels, hot water and space. The only thing lacking is mirrors in the bedrooms so bring your own and maybe a door between kitchen and hall for those lighter sleepers.

A perfect Christmas holiday
I hesitated to write this review--not because anything went wrong during our stay, but because I don't want everyone to rush to book this house so that it will be available when we go again. But you really should rush to book this house.
For starters, Tania is a very responsive host, answering my questions on everything from tap water (you can drink it) to where to get a cab to take us to a pub for a local traditional Irish seisiun (the pub owner's son, of course). She advised me to order groceries ahead of time from the SuperValu in Killybegs and they were delivered just as we arrived. Supervalu also sells spirits, beer and wine FYI. That was a brilliant suggestion.
The house sleeps 10 in 6 bedrooms. We were only a family of 4 but we appreciated having so much space. Our son is a full time wheelchair user, and Tania put a ramp to the front door for us. He slept on the first floor (ground floor in Ireland) and there was a tub and a shower available in the full bath. My husband and I had an en suite on the same floor.
The pictures do not do this house and its location justice. The morning views of the Bay of Teelin were breathtaking, and my daughter was charmed by the sheep next door. It was an entirely peaceful place to spend a week.
The Rusty Mackerel pub is literally at the end of the driveway. The food is top shelf, and the people are wonderful. We were there in the winter, so I don't know if the pub gets noisy in the summer with its outdoor area, but there is a berm in between, so I would guess not. The Mackerel also has rooms in case there are more than 10 of you.
The cliffs of Slieve Liag are stunning, and are close by. We didn't hike this time but will do so next time. You can drive up to an outlook for a gorgeous view if you can't/don't want to hike.
One note of caution for Americans--be sure to bring STEP DOWN electrical adapters. I bought the cheap ones and burned out a nursery monitor and a hair straightener due to a power surge, I guess. Don't make that mistake!

Perfect house!
We stayed in An Scrin last week with another family, 10 in total. The house was a perfect size, plenty of space and had everything that we need. Very clean on arrival and the hosts were very attentive to our needs. Our daughter is in a wheelchair and they even got a ramp fitted at the front door for our stay. The house is in a great location with lovely views. Only 5 minutes from the Slieve Liag cliffs and there are lots of gorgeous Sandy beaches around. We’ll be back!

Easing Out of Lockdown
An Scrin was a perfect haven to escape to after months of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
We arrived to beautiful sunshine and stunning scenery in Teelin. An Scrin itself was immaculate - to be honest, we have never arrived to a cleaner holiday home! Our check in time was to be 6pm to allow time for proper sanitisation of the property which we fully accepted, but we were delighted to receive a text from the owner to inform us that the cottage was ready for our expected arrival time of 3pm. This made all the difference to us and helped to kick start our holiday after a lengthy car journey from N Ireland.
We found the cottage to be very spacious, well equipped and very comfortable for the 7 of us. The downstairs ensuite bedroom is perfect for anyone with mobility problems whilst the WiFi and Netflix ensured content teenagers.
The cottage is a perfect base to explore the local area, either on foot or by car. There are beautiful beaches, incredible waterfalls and fishing nearby whilst the Slieve League and Pilgrim's Path walks are literally on the doorstep. However, you will need a clear day to complete the walk in its entirety. Unfortunately, we experienced heavy mist on our few attempts so were unable to walk across the top of One Man's Pass to join the top of the Pilgrim's Pass but we have vowed to return some day to do this. We recommend a stroll to Teelin Pier for pier jumping and sea swimming. From here you will see a small beach and harbour opposite you. This is worth a drive to also. And don't forget to drop into Ti Linn coffee shop where you will be met by friendly staff and good coffee. The little craft shop is perfect for a few souvenirs too.
All in all, An Scrin and Teelin provided a much welcomed base for us to enjoy much needed family time and to ease out of lockdown.

Beautiful place in stunning surroundings
Our family of eight stayed at An Scrin over Christmas. We had the most wonderful time. The house is clean, spacious and perfectly situated, overlooking rolling fields down to the estuary and the Atlantic beyond.
Slieve League Cliffs form an impressively atmospheric backdrop and we were fortunate enough to make it up to the viewing point on Christmas morning.
With a great pub (the Rusty Mackerel) right behind the house you can enjoy some traditional Irish music, indulge in delicious local seafood, or even star spot a couple of Hollywood A-listers on their own vacation.
An Scrin’s owners - Tania and Martin - couldn’t have been more helpful in making our holiday one to remember.

Extremely Beautiful!!
In the middle of our trip, and An Scrin (Tania) has exceeded our expectations! The most gorgeous views; very close to Slieve League; The Rusty Mackerel has been great to be near. Couldn’t picture a better part of Ireland to be in. Definitely the trip of a lifetime.
