At first glance, Bequia may seem remote and difficult to get to but do not let this deter you from visiting this wonderful island. There are several international airports throughout the Caribbean that serve as “gateways”, from where you can then connect with a local carrier to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Some of the major international airports include Barbados, St. Lucia, Grenada, Trinidad and Martinique, all offering daily flights to St. Vincent from where you can then take a ferry to Bequia. Most visitors find it more convenient to fly into Barbados' Grantley Adams International Airport, as there are also direct flight connections to Bequia. You can book either a scheduled flight or a private charter (which is a particularly attractive option for a larger group) from Barbados to Bequia. Local carriers offer flight services to and from the island several times a day and will usually wait for your international connection in Barbados with their meet and greet service that takes you directly into the departure lounge without you having to claim your luggage first (Mustique Airways service personnel will collect and transfer it for you). Another popular route would be taking a flight into St. Vincent via any of the major Caribbean islands with Liat Airlines. From the airport, you can take a short taxi ride to the ferry terminal (approximately 5 - 10 minutes drive from the airport), followed by a ferry ride to Bequia (takes about an hour, port-to-port or 20 minutes with the fast ferry). The ferry is a wonderful experience and a number of visitors choose this way of getting to Bequia due to the beauty of the passage across from St. Vincent to Bequia. Please note that the ferry runs on a fixed schedule, which means that you should give yourself sufficient time to arrive in St. Vincent and get to the ferry terminal before the last ferry leaves to Bequia. You can also plan to spend a night in St. Vincent, which is very beautiful, or we can assist in arranging a powerboat that will pick you up and get you to Bequia.
