Slightly misleading
The location of this property is excellent for getting around Whitby itself. It is on 3 floors with lots of stairs. The place was very clean and tidy. Freya, who is the main point of contact was extremely friendly and helpful. The place was very warm.
Parking is always a challenge in Whitby. We were able to load and unload outside the front door. A scratch card was available for us to use. However the zones applicable to the card were well over half a mile away therefore not much use when it was pouring down with rain.
Our biggest complaint is that the place was very dark. The photos on the website show bright, light rooms. The reality is somewhat different. The lounge was not comfortable to sit in because of the darkness of the wood and dimly lit room. We felt it resembled the captains quarters on the Golden Hind.
The bedrooms are a good size. However, the ensuite in the second bedroom was very small. Ok for tiny people but a challenge to anyone tall and not so slim!
Reviews on the website are great and because of these we booked the place. We certainly wouldn't re-book. Its not awful by any means. Its just not as nice as it appears on the website. We also feel it was over priced.

Fantastic
Absolutely lovely. The location is prime: within a short walk of everything, right in the heart of the pedestrianised lanes full of shops, near the foot of the steps up to the abbey. The house has been very recently renovated and is gorgeous inside, with a really nice living room and kitchen on the first floor (you’re staying above a shop), two bedrooms with two bathrooms above that, and a huge master bedroom suite on the top floor. The pillows, duvets, rugs and carpets all feel brand new and luxurious. There are still a lot of period details (ornamental fireplace, very satisfying wood floors that feel lovey underfoot, exposed timbers here and there) and the place feels very spacious - especially for being in the middle of town. And if it’s rainy, the telly comes with Netflix and all sorts.
There isn’t a dedicated parking spot but the owners supply a residents’ parking permit (good for pretty much any on-street parking in town) and there is a pay-and-display car park just around the corner, about one minute’s walk away. The big Co-Op at the train station is easily walkable for groceries (but there is a car park if you’ve got mobility difficulties).
Our family enjoyed nosing around Whitby (so many beautiful little streets to explore) but the best part was that we could climb the steps and be well outside of town in only 5 minutes, walking along the cliff tops and exploring the beach and fossils at Saltwick Bay and beyond for hours.

Beautifully appointed character apartment in the centre of Whitby
Highly recommend this stylishly appointed three bedroom, three bathroom apartment located right in the centre of Whitby. We recently stayed for a short break and loved the fact that we had a vast choice of bars, restaurants and shops within a 5 to 10 minute walk from the property. The description and photographs are 100% accurate (minus the cushions and decorative bits because of COVID-19). Everything was immaculate with comfortable beds and excellent WiFi. The apartment is set over three floors and so may not be suitable for a few people but for us it was perfect.
