We have had three wonderful weeks at Gingerlilly with our two children - 8 and 13, and are very sad to leave! The house is so wonderful has everything you need - large, well equipped kitchen in an airy open plan lounge and dining space, with another dining area on the main balcony overlooking the most incredible view of Port Elizabeth. The sitting area Is clean and fresh with a large flat screen with access to Netflix etc if you fancy a movie night. The house doesn’t have air-con but with the position of the house, and the way it is designed, you have a constant cooling breeze in every area that makes it cool and really pleasant. The rooms are very clean and the beds are very comfortable each with its own mosquito net and lovely en-suite. Each room has a ceiling fan and beautiful large wooden Louvre doors that open onto a private balcony or on the ground floor they open onto the pool. The POOL! This pool is just fantastic with a deep and shallow end, shower, toilet, sun beds and again, the view is just stunning. Young children would need to be supervised as the pool has a steep drop on the infinity side, but our 8 year old was perfectly safe after rules were explained. We rented the Jeep for days we wanted to get around the island and found that driving around was easy and fun. The hill to Gingerlilly and around the island are no problem for a confident driver. Bequia is a hidden gem of an island with plenty to see and do, good food and great people. We would love to come back. This house is very beautiful and quite special. We absolutely adored this beautiful villa with stunning views of Admiral Bay on Bequia. The accommodation itself, was far better than any description of it and even more beautiful than the photos. It was far more spacious than expected. Each of the four bedrooms is huge and each has a wonderful ensuite bathroom. The mosaics on the walls of each bathroom, and the whale overlooking the pool, are incredible works of art. The design of the entire structure is outstanding. The Balinese style of architecture allows each room a full view of the glimmering Admiral Bay and Port Elizabeth. The living space - kitchen, dining area and living room all look out to the scenery below. And the living space is huge. When 6 of us were all trying to do our own thing in the kitchen, we had plenty of room. We had a hard time staying out of the very clean swimming pool that also overlooks the bay. We just wanted to stay in the pool or lounge around in the comfortable chairs around the pool. That didn't stop us from venturing into Port Elizabeth and other locations in the island. The local restaurants are outstanding. We recommend The Bequia Underground (where we had the best tuna of our lives - and the host, Mike, is a lovely, helpful caring man), Jack's, Mac's Pizza (the lobster pizza is expensive and worth every penny), and all the other restaurants in Port Elizabeth. Bequia has a lot to offer. We also enjoyed roaming in the market (prices are a bit high there) and in the stores of Port Elizabeth. The hosts have wonderful suggestions for things to do. Speaking of the hosts, Pearl and Jonathan are lovely people who are always willing to lend a helping hand or provide something. I will return to Gingerlilly, that's for sure!

This property is absolutely amazing, to wake up in the morning and look out from the bedroom at the sea below is incredible. Our memories of our holiday here in this lovely villa still make me smile. Pearl and Jonathan were excellent hosts. We were there during the festival and loved the island the people and the perfect beaches, there is even a bar on the sea. To arrive from the uk is expensive as you need to fly from Barbados to st Vincent then a ferry but good fun and really worth it. We will definitely return.

This is a 4 bed/4 bath house perched on a mountainside overlooking the sea. Spectacular views! Private saltwater pool! We shared with another couple and did not use 2 bedrooms, but the value was definitely there. Only negative is the very steep hill to get from the main road to the house. Walking into and around town was easy and the beach was great. I’d recommend it to anyone. Cable TV and free WiFi too!

Reviewed 4 weeks ago for a stay in January 2020 We had always said that there were too many places in the world to see to visit anywhere twice, but we have made Bequia (third visit) and Ginger Lily (second visit), the exception! The island is not straightforward to get to, fly to Barbados or St Lucia, Liat on to St Vincent, then one hour ferry to Bequia, but long may that continue as the island really is unspoilt by any massive development or chain hotels, and feels like the Caribbean of 50 years ago. We just love the place! We see the green roof of Ginger Lily as we come in to the harbour on the ferry, and we know we are truly on holiday! Perched high on the hill (not for the faint hearted when it comes to walking up and down, but great exercise!) with stunning views of the bay, the house is just exceptional. This time we brought our grown up children and their partners, and the great layout of the house meant we could all be together for meals, around the pool etc, but there are plenty of places to relax if anyone wanted their own space. Pearl and Jonathan, our hosts couldn’t have been more helpful, even picking up some wine for us from their supplier in St Vincent when they went over for the day on the ferry! Equipment in the house is top class, good WiFi, an amazing new fridge with great ice maker, range and washing machine (with washing powder supplied ...unusual in many holiday rentals), made our stay even more comfortable. The pool is spotless and long enough to swim laps.Shirley the housekeeper came in once during our 10 day stay, cleaned through and changed all the linen. Taxi drivers are all very friendly, as is everyone on the island. We went early morning running a few times, and were always greeted with “hello” and a smile or a bit of banter by everyone we saw! Minor negatives: Eating out is so/so, most restaurants and bars are in a beautiful setting by the water, but portions are generally not large, and quite expensive and service can be slow. Mac’s pizzas were the exception! We preferred using the BBQ at the house most nights. Mosquitoes can be a problem after rain showers, the house beds have nets, but we used the spray and coils provided which helped. But then you are among nature and not in a sanitised hotel!

I cannot recommend this beautiful escape enough. Truly magnificent views, excellent facilities and one of the best swimming pools we have been in. The sheer size of this villa is amazing. From the word go Pearl and John were very welcoming, extremely friendly providing all what was needed. We had a flat battery on arrival however John saved the day, top man. If you are looking for a secret escape, beautiful unique property and a true Caribbean experience then book Ginger Lily. You will not be disappointed. Cant wait to go back

The Ginger Lily is a special place that should not be taken for granted. It has everything one could wish for and more.

This is the most lovely place I have ever stayed. The view from the bedroom was stunning. Really felt at peace with nature in this elevated position and it was wonderful having a beautiful pool that you could literally step out of your bedroom and dive into. The host couple, Jonny and Pearl were two of the warmest people I have ever met. It was great being so close to the town and the beaches. Both well within walking distance. I was really made to feel at home. Thankyou! Can’t wait to go back.

We were two couples staying in Bequia for the first time. Gingerlilly Villa was very comfortable and the setting was fantastic. Pearl, Jonathan and Steve (Pearl’s son) made the experience so pleasant. They were living close by while never invading our space. Every small need or question was answered in a caring and prompt fashion. For most people, a car would be necessary as the climb to the house is quite steep but it can be walked. While we were there, they were getting a little more rain than usual so the mosquitos were plentiful but most of the time it was fine. We highly recommend these hosts and their well equipped house. Nice people. Thank you Pearl, Jonathan and Steve!
