Relaxing beach stay
Our family did a recent stay to El Delphin, part of Stef Surf and had a wonderful stay. The rooms were stylishly decorated and maintained. There was all the kitchenware you would ever need and a washer/dryer on site which we found very helpful (With young boys and beach sand on clothes, it was nice to be able to get clean clothes during the trip). The location was very nice, just a short walk to the beach and an easy walk to food. We did not rent a car, a choice we made as a family so as not to have to deal with the hassle of driving in a foreign country. Other families did rent. Instead we went by taxi or tour to places. Our taxi driver our last day there, ended up being a great addition showing us other sites and friends of his. There were a couple other families which was actually nice, socializing or swimming in the pool with them and their children, and my youngest son even found a vacation buddy which was just superb!
Also it was very well-organized establishment, with lots of help prior to arrival if you want and help while your there with ideas for during your visit. In our case, Edwin was always there and helped a lot with questions and securing rides or helping drivers with directions. As for rooms, I think any of the rooms would be fine. They were all very nicely kept.
If you are interested in tours or exploring, I would recommend at least looking a bit into before arriving because there can be lots of possible things to do and some require a bit of driving, but it is easy to plan and schedule tours when you get there.

A perfect location for a private Costa Rica vacation!
We really loved Stef Surf! It has everything you need and is very modern inside. The common area is full of tropical vegetation. Just a short 2 minute walk to the beach which is very private. We had it to ourselves most days. There are many dining opportunities within walking distance. The concierge was very helpful with lots of information about area attractions and also booked any activities we wanted to do. Don't miss out on the sunset sail out of Potrero.
