Dear beautiful British Family,
first of all we thank you very much for your wonderful words on the Villa, we are very happy that you have so much appreciated and enjoyed your Stay 10/20 Aug at VillaPerlaJonica!
You welcome, it is just our Duty to do our best to Ensure our Guests are Happy with their Stay!
Regarding the area of Taormina, prices, Lidos, restaurants timetables and distance from Syracuse, we should like to add please a dutiful clarification to Tourists/Holidaymakers who Choose to enjoy their Holiday in Sicily and in the area of Taormina!
We premise that you have been here in the central week of August (August 15th-Ferragosto is National holiday in Italy and the period with most Tourists in Italy is in August, in particular the week when it falls August 15th!) period with more traffic/confusion especially in important tourist cities like Taormina!
Having made this objective premise, we would like to clarify (as specified on its Ad) the Villa is located in S.Teresa di Riva, about 12 km. from the center of the City of Taormina Mare and Taormina Vecchia, and we believe that this is not only strategic, but also advantageous in the costs of the holiday, as in the outlying villages of tourist centers (like Taormina) the Prices are lower (restaurants, supermarkets, bars, pubs etc) and the quality often better (as they say ... you eat better and spend less) IE the normal Italian prices) while in the city of Taormina, as in all major tourist destinations in the world, prices are often much higher compared to neighboring villages! Among other things, we recommend the best businesses near the Villa such as supermarkets and restaurants/pizzerias.
The prices of the Lidos (but there are also wonderful free beaches!) in S.Teresa and in the nearby seaside villages (S.Alessio, Furci, Roccalumera, Letojanni etc) range from 10 to 15 euros per day for 2 people (yes the Lidos of IsolaBella, a prestigious seaside resort of Taormina, where there are also VIP, its Prices are much, much, more expensive!) The prices of the neighboring villages of supermarkets, restaurants, bars etc, are normal national prices, while in Taormina city they are perhaps double, triple or quadruple (and I would say about as in London :-)
About driving in Italy, we understand that our British friends are not used to driving here that is on the right side, but with a smile, we would like to reassure the Tourists who would come to Sicily, for heaven's sake, it is not so dangerous! Of course (as everywhere) there are drivers not exactly perfect, but most respects the rules because you are easily sanctioned by the efficient law enforcement if you "wrong" (if someone parks on the crosswalk, safe takes the right sanction!)
Sorry, but to say that on the highway here they drive in reverse on the wrong way, would be a crazy and he immediately reported and punished! As said in August there is too much traffic and then just more difficult time driving!
Siracusa is about 110 km away from Taormina and can be covered all over with highway (Taormina-Catania/Catania-Siracusa) that is normally about 1 hour driving, in the middle of August, yes, it is correct to say about 2 hours driving and maybe even more!
Regarding restaurant times are usually from 12am to 3pm and from 7.30pm to 12pm, however, in the summer they are much more flexible with schedules, while in Taormina City you can say that they work continuously from morning to night! (for news you find at the Villa our "General information" where, among other things, are listed the times of all shops and recommended the best) As mentioned are 2 reality a bit different, tourist centers and neighboring locations, however it is right to say that if you go to a restaurant in S.Teresa at 5 pm it is still closed!
You forgive these clarifications, made with great respect and sympathy towards you, but it seems correct that those, like millions of Tourists who come to Sicily they have the objective information.
We take this opportunity to thank you for the care you have had for the Villa and for your exquisite kindness, you really are a wonderful Family!
It was a Honor to have you Guests at the Villa and we hope one day to see you again with immense pleasure!
Thank you again,
Warm greeting from Franco & Antonella and Paolo!
