My wife and I stayed at the Blue Ruby B & B located in Elizabeth City NC; we stayed for 8 days during the holiday season (Thanksgiving) and we were not disappointed by the charm of the Blue Ruby and the Luxury Master Room that we stayed in. The host and inn keeper (owner), Patrick was just as charming and provided outstanding service. The price was competitive compared to staying at a stuffy, overcrowded hotel which lacks in quality, service, and limited breakfast items. The breakfast was superb. As a retired Army Sergeant Major, my wife and I highly recommend the Blue Ruby without hesitancy.
Blue Ruby is a wonderful place to stay in Elizabeth City, within easy walking distance of the waterfront and the many wonderful restaurants! We stayed in the first floor suite, which was very comfortable and generous in size. Our host Patrick helped with suggestions for dinner and drinks in the area and prepared a fantastic breakfast before our departure!
We travelled from Panama City, FL to Elizabeth City, NC to attend our son's graduation from USCG A-school. We arrived at 10:30 pm and were greeted at the opened-door by our smiling-host, Patrick. He gave us a brief tour of the main floor and our very-large suite, both which were immaculate and proved to be very comfortable. Patrick asked us to circle items on the breakfast menu the evening before and to include the time at which we would like to have breakfast prepared for us. We unpacked and showered in the cleanest glass shower we've ever been in. It was positioned next to a larger-than-average Bubble-Jet (Jacuzzi-type) tub that was clean enough to eat out of, in a bathroom the size of a 2-car-garage. Our breakfast was quite good, consisting of a combination of fruit with fresh whipped cream, orange juice and coffee, French toast, omelet with cheese, over-medium eggs, biscuit, and bacon. Patrick explained that he allows (nice) pets and loves to have children stay, where none of the nearby hotels allow pets. If you are traveling to Elizabeth City, NC, I can assure you that you will not find a cleaner, more comfortable place to stay than the Blue Ruby at Grice-fearing House Bed & Breakfast.…
We stayed at Blue Ruby this past weekend. What a charming bed and breakfast; super clean and comfy. Patrick and Lacy are the very best hosts and made us feel so welcomed and served up an amazing breakfast. Can't wait to visit again.
We were greeted at the door by our host, Patrick. He gave us a history of the house which is the oldest in Elizabeth City, NC. Pros: - The renovation that has been done in 6 months is amazing. It now has a updated flair. - very spacious, well appointed rooms. (Ours had a sitting room along with the bedroom and bathroom) - the public rooms are well designed. We enjoyed spending part of our afternoon on the front porch swing. - they offered breakfast choices that we picked the night before. Everything was incredibly delicious.
