We loved this campsite. Secluded areas spread over a very large area with small ablution blocks dotted around. Wonderfully peaceful. There are very many hippos in the river, and lots of elephants. We saw a leopard, lions and, on our way out early one morning, a pack of hyenas on a kill! Definitely somewhere I would love to return to .
This was one of the highlights of our 3+ weeks in Africa. The camping is very comfortable and what can you say when the sounds of hippos and lions pretty close to the tents mean you’d better not go to the toilet block at night, just in case (we did have an en-suite bathroom so didn’t have to hold it until the morning), not to mention the odd elephant strolling just a few yards in front of the camp. We were so well looked after by Afro Trek Safaris (thanks to OT and his crew, who do an amazing job with setting up the camp and the meals in the open air, as well as the game drives.
This campsite was definitely our favourite in Botswana. Quiet, beautiful, full of game, elephants crossing around all day and night long, hippos, lions, hyenas, monkeys...the staff was really friendly and they have now finished 2 bathrooms and 2 showers. Only one thing, it was extremely difficult to receive the confirmation from them after payment. I had to call them in order to get my booking. Apart from that, one of the most beautiful places in the country.
I booked 4 days at khwai development trust. I was booked for campsite 1 when i came then there was 5 caravans on my spot asked and said can stay anay place. Asked around same answers so pitched camp. Next morning guys came and checked booking asked about my camping spot being taken told me no problem can just stay here. So next day went to 3rd bridge came back at 7 that evening other campers on my place and they moved my hole camp to the side. Asked around said management did it. Went around to them at 7pm said i was on wrong camp site explained to them took them to campsite 1 still people on my camp site 1. so i said what now person unwilling to move his stuff from campsite 1. then they offered me another camp site pitched my tent till 11 that nite again they offered a refund still waiting. So if you go demand your designated camp site if somebody is on it demand they move to prevent what happened to me. Over all great place you do not pay additional park fees per day. Great view lots of wild animals around you lots of elephants. Also saw loins there.…
We weren’t disappointed by Magotha. What we wanted was peace and quiet, plenty of game in and close to the camp. We got that in spades at Campsite 12, which is away from t(e river. The river Campsites are undoubtedly more picturesque but there are also more people around and vehicles doing game drives. We were satisfied with what we had, no on-site toilets, showers or water. That didn’t bother us....it was like bush camping and we like that. Beautiful, beautiful place and the Khwai River Driven-actually provides more game than inside Moremi itself. ......
