It is a plantation stay, more suited for a group of 8 or more. There are four rooms stacked next to each other with a rather big patio facing the coffee plantation, which makes it ideal for a get-together with friends. They have a pond (not a swimming pool) and they provide life jackets for a fun-time in the pond. There is also a small ground with options to play volley-ball, badminton etc. in the open air. The local food they serve was quite good, and spiced just right. There are many trekking spots nearby, but for us the time wasn’t quite right due to intermittent rains. Leeches are there around this area, so be cautious - some caught us while on the trek that we had to stop half way due to rain.
Team decided to do an outstation bonding trip for 2Q2016 and after scouring for many places, we decided on this one. Made some calls and after some email exchanges and initial deposit being transferred, things were set. We were given good directions to reach the place and one group took the Hassan-Belur route and another took the Hassan-Sakleshpur route to reach the place. The Belur route was a better one. Reached the place in the afternoon and were greeted by the owner of the place and were showed to our rooms. One good thing was that to get a good overall experience, they book just one group at a time with a need for a minimum of 12 people and this also keeps things simple. While folks were freshening up, a few of us played some Badminton and Volleyball (decent open space for a full fledged court). But on 2 sides, its open and quite a few times we had to run downhill to fetch the ball and it made playing volleyball very tiring. Food: On most meals, most of the folks didn't like the food. It was very oily and some weren't tasty either. Non-veg and veg snacks ordered in the evening, for which there is an extra charge, weren't tasty either. Having said that, a few individual dishes were good though... obbattu(holige), custard, Upma. Would rate food a 2/5. Activities/Things to do: The place is great with many things that can be done. There is a small pond and using the good floating jackets available at the place, you can have some good fun as a group. There are some nice treks you can do (be aware of leeches everywhere though). They have a nice TT table, volleyball area, badminton rackets, cricket bat (ball wasn't there when we were there though). They also arrange for a nice campfire in the evening. I personally felt that there were enough things around to keep a group occupied and busy for 2 days for sure without getting bored. On this parameter I would rate it a 4/5. Rooms: Rooms were ok. Its simple rooms/structure made just to put some cots and get some folks in. Basic cots and mattress and linen. But felt the bedding provided at the tenting place @Civet Creek Camp in Coorg. Being a hilly area and with monsoon setting in, there were many bugs and spiders which is tough to control I guess. Overall, like I mentioned, the tents provided in Civet creek Camp seemed more clean and better than the rooms and beds at this place. So would rate it a 2/5. Service Young Ali (come down to earn a living with his family all the way from Guwahati) was a great guide and motivator for lazy folks like me on the treks and he would be there to get us anything during the stay. Always smiling and helpful. There was one more local guy who was also nice and helpful. Like the other reviewers mentioned, yes the owner might sound a little rude, but with our group, he tried to keep a conversation going and suggest things. But many interactions indicated it was all about money and maximising returns for the weekend. Though not a very rude experience or anything, it wasn't a very pleasant/pleasing one either. And this was from everyone in the group. Would rate it a 2/5. Overall I rate it as a 2/5 for a getaway and having some things within the property you can do, but the cost and overall service feel wasn't great. Do I regret going to the place- not really. We have had some good fun as well at the place. But would I go again or suggest this place to someone else...maybe not based on the experience we had.…
Food, room and hospitality was below average. There were big spiders in all the room and in 1 of the room the geyser doesn't work. Food was very oily and tasteless. Not worth the money that is been charged. Location, pond and sports ground is good.Lot of leeches on the way to trekking and saw few leeches in rooms.
Plus point: - Spend some peaceful time with friends and its scenic places. Minus point: - Money minded Host, least bothered about the Guest and issues. - Food not to great, have to pay for everything you order. Overall I recommend don’t go.
We, 13 of our friends,...planned for a stay in this home stay on 23rd & 24th Jan 2016. It was a horrible home stay......food was below average......& the attitude the owner has is worst.......that you can expect from anyone. He is too rude, impolite, unprofessional, bad mannered person.... when we met him for payment & gave our feedback he was just annoying, irritating & threw away the money as he was not prepared to hear the truth....... Not a good place to stay.....highly disappointed...Poor home stay
