Good accomodation for one night. Location in central town next to a good restaurant with an english menu and an ATM. Free wifi and hot shower. Free water refill (good for saving plastic). Map with tourist information available. Bus schedule seemed to be outdated. They arranged a cheap taxi for us. Although they don't really speak english the communication was possible.
This guest house is newish and well located in the center of town next to the bridge. It is clean and the rooms are serviced daily. No English is spoken but communication occurs. The beds are firm but not actually hard. The ensuite bathrooms are small and I was able to get only warm water in the shower. There is a water cooler in the lobby and instant coffee is provided. At 80K for a double, 60K for a single room it is good value.
We stayed here in Sam Neua after our original choice of hotel cancelled our booking without telling us, and it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The Bounhome / Bounhom has budget rooms at budget prices, but the beds are comfortable, the linen is clean, the wifi is good, the shower is hot and the restaurant next door is the place in town where the few foreigners who make it out to Sam Neua gather to eat and chat. The family that runs the hotel do not speak much English but there is always someone around downstairs and they are always helpful and reliable if you want advice or a taxi.
Centrally located in a cluster of similar hotels, the Bounhome is fine for an overnight stay in Sam Neua. I spent a couple of nights here either side of a trip to Vieng Xay. Both rooms were very clean. One had two windows and the other none. The beds were firm but fine to sleep on. The bathrooms were very cramped with the shower virtually over the toilet but the water was very hot and powerful. The WiFi was great on my first stay....2 days later it was a bit unstable. The manager doesn't speak English but is very friendly. The restaurant to the right out the door has an English menu, big portions and cold beer.
Spesa minima...CONSIGLIATO!
