Take ear plugs!
The hotel is in an excellent central location, nice room overlooking the front of the hotel. No facilities on site. The hotel is really noisy, you hear every creak, every door going. There is a nightclub behind the hotel that goes on until at least 4am. Unless you have earplugs you can’t sleep the noise is so loud.

Great location, hotel clean and modern.. outside noise
The hotel is in a really good location and made our trip very easy to access a number of areas at ease. The hotel is really clean and modern, our room was small but comfortable and bathroom worked well. We were at the back of the hotel and over looked a concrete block area. We backed on to a very big club and music was loud until 5am. The walls are very thin and can hear normal conversations. Would recommend rooms at the front but a pleasant little place..

Hotel Oscar
I arrived in Amsterdam for a city break with my friend for a birthday celebration, as I approached my hotel, I could not seem to see it, I saw some building work outside a building that my hotel was on and you guessed it, it was my hotel. The front of the hotel had netting and scaffolding up, I understand that buildings need maintenance etc. but I think out of courtesy they should have sent an email advising. The room I chose was for the superior canal view, the only issue is you cannot see it properly because of the netting and scaffolding poles, one again I was not advised of this. I was given the key to my room, once I went in I was quite surprised at how big they had made it look on the photos as it was a lot smaller than expected. But the biggest issue was that it was a double bed, even though the option was for a superior double or twin room. I went down to reception and they explained to me that I should have filled in the special request, now my understand is that is normally for any special access etc. they said that if they did not know then they just do it as a double, I said that it needed to be two singles, but was told that the housekeeper had gone home for the day and it would be done the next. My friend and I went out the next day and on our return the double bed was still made up, I again went to reception and asked why this had not been done and there were no notes of this request. They did offer an extra duvet on the second day but it was pretty pointless. This was a disappointing stay considering the rest of Amsterdam has been lovely and is a beautiful city. …

Noisy Hotel due to a neighboring bar that is open from 11:00 pm til about 5:00 am
This hotel is very nice and clean. Staff friendly and great location. The main problem is there is a bar behind the hotel that starts the music at 11:00 pm and goes til 4:00 am during the week and 5:00 am on the weekends. It was loud enough to wake my husband and I up. If it was not for the music from the bar, I would highly recommend it. I suggest that if you want some sleep, find another place to stay.

Comfy and clean room, lovely shower, walking distance of everywhere in the city.
Hotel Oscar was in the perfect location to get around the city by foot. We stayed in a small double room with a canal view. After reading a lot of reviews I was worried about staying here, was very glad we stayed here as the bad reviews are very harsh and untrue from the experience we had. Yes there is pubs and clubs with music but nothing that would vibrate the room or keep you awake but most places in the city will be located not too far away from a pub/ club. Would recommend this place to friends and will be back again.
