With limited space inside, you can see they have made the most of what they have. It's not crammed to the gills, which makes looking around easier and the exhibits are well set out and well explained. It doesn't pretend to be anything it's not and the free entry is a bonus. About 20 minutes tops is all you will need to look around but it's 20 minutes well spent.

I like small local museums - they’re often quirky and interesting. Not so much of the quirky here, but it was interesting.
We popped in here on a chilly January day. It’s a very small museum with some displays of artefacts dating from prehistoric times to the present day. If you’re in St Ives I’d recommend popping it - it’s free, doesn’t take a long time to look around.
They’ve published books about local history (there was one in our hotel room) so if you have questions this is a good place to ask. I suspect there’s a lot more going on here behind the scenes.

It was free and there are a lot of interesting things to look at and read. Probably spent 15 - 20 minutes there. There is also two 3D pottery puzzles which were fun. Also had a few things for sale too.

Displays nicely set out. Interesting for adults. Not much for small children. Shame the paper mache dinosaur had to go. Could have been the star attraction!

Despite having had money spent on it for a makeover the exhibits are nothing out of the ordinary.A bit hard to find.

We were staying in St Ives for two nights with friends and were having a wander around the town, when we discovered the Norris Museum. A nice, informative space extolling the local virtues of the history of St Ives.

This is an small museum with items of local interest. The volunteers are very enthusiastic and will happy talk you through the items and answer any questions. Do pop in if you are in St Ives and its open.

We almost expect every town in Britain to have a local museum. St Ives has a gem! As well as being in a picturesque building (surprisingly only built in 1932-33), it is bright and airy inside with a good coverage of local history.
We visited during the Treasures of Ramsey Abbey temporary exhibition, which is well worth seeing. There is a 360 degree tour on the website (I hope they retain it indefinitely) but go and see it if you can. We have had enough of virtual visits and it was lovely to see it in person. The stars of the show are the 14th-century silver-gilt censer and incense boat lent by the V&A in London. This is a brilliant place to exhibit them as they are lost in the treasures of the capital's great museum. But here you can appreciate them much more, showing the wealth of the Abbey in its heyday!

We visited St Ives as part of our coach trip from London,after walking through the market and looking at the river we visited this wonderful small museum.It charts the history of the area from pre Roman times to the present day,very interesting.
