Just delightful

We were visiting St Ives for a few hours recently. Not too much going on and Google suggested visiting a bridge. I didn’t even find the boat trip ahead of visiting.
Noticed the signs for the boat trip so decided to give it a go.
What an absolute delight it was!
Almost an hour silently cruising gently along the river. Our “captain” ( the owner) was so engaging. Telling tales of history and personal experiences, the odd joke and even a song!
He was especially good with the youngsters on board, who all had a go at steering the boat. The scenery is serene and the various sights were commented on.
I can honestly say this was more enjoyable at £20 for two than our punt ride in Cambridge the evening before at eight times the price.
Well done to the couple who run this!

A very relaxing and interesting boat trip. Lots of local history and other useful titbits. Great value for money, too. Three generations of our family all annoyed it enormously.

Boat trip on the Ouse

We’ve lived in the town for decades and never been on the river. As the weather was glorious we decided it was time to give the trip a go. Interesting info, lots of wildlife including a kingfisher! Definitely go again.

Fun self drive on the river!

We booked a 1 hour self drive trip and it was great fun! Booking over email was easy. On the day we paid by card, got a 5 minute intro to the controls and the rules of the river, and off we went. It was a bit drizzly but that didn’t detract from the experience since the boat had cover. The boat was easy to control and we could focus on dodging ducks and fishing lines and enjoying the ride. The kids even had a go! Thank you to everyone at the electric river boat company. We’d love to come back again one day!

This company deserve so much appraisal, really looked after my family and I on a religious ceremony. Pat & Chris were very accommodating and I would recommend them 110%. Thank you for everything today, I can’t thank you enough.

Great family trip

Chris & Pat were great and made us feel really welcome! The River Ouse and St Ives are beautiful and we loved our time on the boat.

Well .. one of the main attractions in the town and not shown on your map is the St Ives Electric Riverboat Co ...operating from the Quay by the Ancient Bridge....Not to be missed.... a trip on the electric boat on the Great Ouse River

Had been meaning to book a bat cruise for ages, finally got round to it - really enjoyable couple of hours out on the rive at dusk with a very knowledgeable guide. And yes we saw and heard bats (bat detectors provided!) Will be booking a dawn chorus trip next spring.

Relaxing river cruise

Family outing on the river yesterday in glorious sunshine (TripAdvisor has no button for older family). A delightful hour spent close to nature with the guide providing information on history as we sailed by various places of interest. Sadly didn't see the seal but the Cormorant was pointed out.This was a wonderful way to get close to the river and a great place to be on such a hot afternoon. The staff of the ERC were so helpful and friendly too. If you are considering less able people, give them a call. The landing pontoon wobbles a little, as does the boat as each embarks/disembarks but my parents managed well with support and guidance (both in 80s and not so sure of foot these days).
