Our disappointment with the service I received at Kauai SUP on July 10, 2024. My experience was unfortunately marred by the unprofessional and rude behavior of one of the staff.
On July 9th, I called your establishment and spoke with a friendly lady who informed me that booking directly through you would cost $60 per paddleboard. Based on this information, my group of four decided to rent from your company.
However, when we arrived the next morning, we were greeted by a male employee (with a "surfer dude" appearance) who informed us that the cost was $62 per board. When I politely mentioned the price I was quoted over the phone, his response was abrupt and discourteous: "That's not my problem!"
This rude response shocked my entire group. The employee's unprofessional behavior continued when he aggressively solicited tips by placing the tip jar extremely close to my face while I was paying. Later, as we were leaving with our boards, he loudly called out, "Tips are appreciated!" despite our assurance that we would consider tipping upon returning the equipment (when he does not deserve any tip at all!)
This type of behavior is unacceptable. Not only was there a discrepancy in the quoted price, but the employee's attitude was confrontational and made us feel unwelcome.
The paddle-boarding self-guided tour was great! The rude surfer dude's behavior was not.
