PROS:
* menu has great variety
* cozy and inviting atmosphere/decor
* great service
* reasonable prices
* above average selection for on-tap beers
CONS:
* awful parking
* a little cramped inside
INITIAL IMPRESSION:
When you arrive at The Cottage for the first time, you likely won't be impressed. It's an older, worn building, looks small, and has a tiny parking lot. You may even have to park along the street, possibly a block away if they're busy. The don't have a flashy sign (which I'm not complaining about, just making a statement) and nothing stands out as exciting. But if you've been here before, or know someone who has, you likely don't care about any of that.
DECOR
Inside the dining room it is cozy. Which by cozy I mean cramped, but not severely. The ceilings are low, and the room itself is small with an occupancy rating of 49 people. Floors creek a bit and it's not clear where the restrooms are versus the kitchen, but any friendly server will help you find your way.
They have warm lighting throughout, and decor changes a bit from time to time to keep it looking fresher. I find it to be warm and inviting. Menus are worn out, they could use some new ones, but you can still read what's on them so that's what truly matters.
SERVICE:
We typically go here to meet up with some family for dinner a few times per year. We like that it's quieter here than most other restaurants, so we can actually have a conversation among the 8 of us and actually hear each other.
Each time the service is great. Genuinely nice servers who take good care of us. This is the kind of place where servers treat regulars like good friends. Not that they're unfriendly with strangers, but they really value the repeat patrons.
Food comes out a little slow when they're busy, but that kitchen has to be tiny so I can understand. Drinks don't take long, so that's great.
BEER
The Cottage has a very nice selection of on-tap beer. You have your typical macros, then they rotate taps with some others you may or may not have heard of. They also have Guinness, which is great and not as easy to find on tap. You can also get wine and mixed drinks, and they do have a bar in the front of the restaurant.
FOOD
The menu selection is great, almost too great. It's hard to choose! They have a wide range of options, and lots of things are good. They have a Chesapeake Burger which has a crabcake on top of a burger. Very yum. They offer fresh cut fries which I think are some of the best in town.
You can get an entree with seafood, chicken, or steak as well so you get two sides, making a very big meal. I've not tried steak here, but I did have ribs once. They weren't bad, but not as tender as I expected.
The Cottage is kind of known for their wings in town. They offer multiple sauce options, and all sauces are home-made in house. You can go very mild up to Devil and can even mix and match.
One person in our party has gotten the Seafood Alfredo twice in a row and really enjoys it. It looks fantastic. Loaded with seafood and asparagus, comes with a bread-stick.
If you choose a side-salad, you'll get a nice salad with mixed greens and veggies. It's always fresh and well presented. Dressing comes on the side.
One negative I must say about it (and it's not exactly un-heard of in restaurants) is the food is typically very salty. I think the wing sauce is too salty, and they put a little too much salt in the beef for burgers.
OVERALL OPINION
There's not much I can say in a negative way about The Cottage. Parking-lot sucks, but the rest makes it worth it. It's nice for having a nice gathering with friends or family. Simply reserve a table and you're set. It feels more intimate than chain restaurants, so you could bring your date here for a nice dinner.

I always stop into the Cottage for a crab cake sandwich and cold beer when in Cburg. While the tavern might not look like much from the outside, the food is good and service is friendly. This is a perfect spot for a weekend lunch while watching a game on TV.

We came here for a joint birthday get together with a friend from out of town and we had a great time. I had three or four Tight Snatches and they were freaking delicious. My boyfriend and best friend split a pitcher and had some mixed drinks and our bills at the end of the night were very reasonable! The food is also really tasty!
Also the bathroom was very well kept. It was super clean which is sometimes rare for a bar/pub scene.
Dying to get back here!

When traveling we enjoy finding the local spots. We can eat at the "chains" anytime. Stumbled upon this place, oh man!! What a stumble.. We had the Baby Backs
with Fat Tommy's, Yuengling based BBQ sauce...fall off the bone, best ribs I have ever eaten...grew up in NC, live in SC and eaten a lot of ribs. Hands down!! No one is better!!
Hot wings...what, Baton Rouge Cajun...oh man...awesome!!
We will plan a trip back here. By the way, Fat Tommy is the owner. He sat with us at the bar!!! Good food and great atmosphere!!

I am originally from the Midwest and this bar is a typical one you would find there. I'd classify it as a "dive" meaning nothing special to look at from the inside or outside and pretty run down as far as upkeep.
Seems there's a fine comrade re among the patrons.
The food was good and service was very good. I had the fish sandwich. Great piece of fish but I'm a bread snob and this cheap roll was a turnoff. My husband had the portobello mushroom sandwich and was pleased. I hear their specialities are seafood and wings.

A unique eating experience awaits you at the Cottage Pub. They have excellent choices to please anyone's preference from sandwiches to dinners. The full service bar is available and the service is wonderful. It is a nice place to find seafood dinners that are delicious and different. Great desserts as well.
