A nice little walk, your able to take in lovely views and a little history of the castle. Parking is a little difficult as there's only 4 spaces but you are able to park in ludgershall and walk to the castle grounds.

We had a lovely visit to this interesting fortified ruin & earthworks on a mild April day.
We enjoyed a picnic, games and walks around it.
It looks to be well cared for by English Heritage, but it could definitely do with a bin or two.
On our walk, we filled a large carrier bag with recyclable bottles and cans and a bag of non-recyclable litter, both of which we took home with us.

Not a bad place to stretch your legs and get a bit of fresh air. Shame the parking area was not very big. Good for photos and a bit of history

Free entry with a small car park. We visited on a Saturday there was parking spaces left. A short walk uphill to the castle ruins. Bigger ruins than I expected. Nice place to have a picnic. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

This was our second visit and I was so pleased to see the graffiti which covered the ruins on our first visit had been removed. In all honesty there is not an awful lot see here, you need a good imagination to picture what the castle must have looked like. It is still a nice place to visit though, it is very pleasant to walk around the ruins & a nice place to have a picnic. There is no entry fee, & there is a small free parking area which was full at the time of our visit, however if you drive out onto the main road, turn right at the T junction & right again, there is a much larger free car park behind The Crown Inn, there are toilets there too.

Interesting Flint 'castle' ruins near Andover in the village of Ludgershall.
Couple of free parking spaces and easy to find - well sign posted off the main road.
Well maintained ruin, with lots to explore for the kids.
Recommended if passing through the area.

A walk from the car park up on to or through the grass mounds appears a large ruin worth discovery. A few info boards give you clues to its history and refers to the HUGE grounds that were affiliated with the castle. Dogs allowed on leads, no dog poo bins, no human toilets, no shop, no fee to enter.

Delightful village, castle can be found at one end surrounded by open fields and a small wooded area.
Parking nearby but also plenty along the main street.
Interesting site, information boards throughout, all under the umbrella of English Heritage.
Free for all.

We called in here to view the ruins of Ludgershall Castle! Castle is really stretching the imagination just a tad. We parked up and walked up to a gateway with what looked like a moat area cut around a very disappointing area of stones. There was a small tower still standing which is in a very poor state. The rest of the site is certainly not worth travelling miles to view. We love looking at old historic buildings and ruins but this was taking the word ruins to another level. It is free to park and visit the pile of rubble on display but unless you have a fantastic imagination it is very hard to picture how all this looked as there is really so little to view.
