All of the above plus a knowledgeable friendly staff.
Free DVD's on many subjects.
Has to be one of the best on the East coast.

I was overwhelmed with the vast amount of information available particularly regarding the numerous shipwrecks along the shore. Lots to look at and read about. Tons of artifacts. The staff are wonderful and clearly passionate about their research. They’re helpful and knowledgeable. Nice gift shop too

Wow! What a treasure trove of a variety of items from photos and old newspaper articles to diving suits, hats and model ships. This place is run by volunteers and, unlike a lot of other museums we've visited, this one is pretty dustless. We spent a little more than an hour here and could have spent the whole afternoon. We were fortunate to meet the founder and curator of the museum, a feisty woman who served as mayor of Long Beach for 10 years and is now on-call as an EMT. Her heart is really into preserving the naval history of the area.

I have to say that for a small museum I was very impressed by the amount of information that this museum covers. It is really an interesting and amazing place for a small museum at the shore.
There are rooms that cover shark attacks, luxury liner disasters, ship wrecks, shore erosion issues, Coast Guard information, local history dealing with the sea and shore and lots of artifacts from wrecks over the last three hundred years. I was impressed by the information on the 1916 Shark Attacks that inspired the movie "Jaws" and the disaster of many of the luxury liners even after what we learned from the Titanic ten years earlier. There are all sorts of eye witness accounts recorded and all sorts of artifacts.
There is a lot of information on Maritime history of the Jersey Shore and a lot about the resort history of the area. There is a lot on the resorts of not just Beach Haven but the surrounding shore towns.
Each room is packed with information and can be somewhat overwhelming unless you have a few hours to spend here like I did. I found myself leaving after over two hours.
Do not miss this little gem of a museum that is well worth the visit and has free admission. They ask for a small donation which is fair. The people who work here are very friendly and welcoming and will answer any questions.

What an entertaining way to learn nautical history and see artifacts from the sea in a beautifully designed building. Nice guides to answer questions too.

Great history and a bit of a thrill for the horror fan to see films and documentaries of shipwrecks and disasters. 2 floors of artifacts displayed with lots of information, books for sale, bathrooms!, large variety. Parking free in September next door on pier.

We love museums of all kinds and thought we would just pop into this one for a short visit but we ended up staying for a couple of hours just looking and reading. Great informative displays that set the history and culture of the area in front of you. Well put together museum and the admission is free. Good place for older children for educational purposes.

I don't think she would be thrilled. It's mostly for older children (5 yrs. & up), but you never know! It would depend on how you present it to her. It's worth a try and it sure couldn't hurt.
Is it open know?
