The Dupuis Reserve is a former farm that was turned over to the county back in the 70s and has been allowed to return to the natural environment in a managed way, e.g. control of invasion species. There is a nature center with periodic activities, nature trails and a self-guided auto trail. Camping is available at the equestrian center. You can bring your horse but you don't have to. Camping is free but you must make your reservations on line. You can stay up to 8 days consecutively and up to 31 days in a year. The campground has bathrooms, showers, fire pits, water and shelters. Electricity is available at some sites. Be sure to pack plenty of bug spray and your favorite star app for star gazing.

Beautiful camp ground, clean bathrooms too. Miles of trails through pines, palms and some Cypress trees.

Excellent time here. Clean, quiet place with lots of shade and a pretty view of the pond. Nicely groomed sites and not too crowded.

It can be hard to find places in South Florida with extensive dry hiking that are accessible yet feel remote. Dupuis is one of those rare places! The hiking trail is a large loop with a maximum distance of 15 miles, but with connectors along the way that can be used to shorten the distance. Know your limits! Once you get out on the trails the only way back is to walk. Take plenty of water and bug spray, and don’t forget cameras and binoculars. We saw hawks, woodpeckers, turkeys, deer, wild hogs, alligators and more. The trails are relatively dry in winter but may be wet in summer, especially loops 3 and 4. In addition to hiking, there are extensive equestrian trails as well as an unsaved road suitable for mountain bikes or driving. The visitor center is at gate 5, on the western end of the property, while the main hiking trail is accessed from gate 2 toward the eastern side.

This is the place to go if you are an outdoors person. Anything from hiking , hunting, camping and self tour driving. If you are a hiker ... this is a must place to go . Stay in the marked trail and bring plenty of water. I have seen wild hogs, armadillos, plenty of gators, snakes etc.. bring your camera and binoculars . There is a 9 miles out and back marked trail that goes all the way to the L-8 marsh camp and crosses path with the Florida Hiking Trail . Be aware of the hunting season and wear a safety orange vest as precaution. If you like to hunt definitely check the FWC website for hunting days and permits . I found several deer stands in the woods and seen wild pigs and deers first hand. If you are a camper you won’t be disappointed always check the FWC and SWM website for permits . I attached several pictures.

The DuPuis Reserve is an old goat and sheep ranch that was acquired by the South Florida Water Management District in 1986 and is being restored to original Florida habitats such as ponds, pinelands, wet prairies and swamps. There is an auto-tour accessible by car, numerous hiking trails marked only by blazes on the trees and over 40 miles of horseback riding trails. The visitors center has a mini museum, a butterfly garden and a nature trail. Check the website before you visit because the reserve is closed periodically for dove and hog hunting.

This natural area has a ten mile long dirt/sand road that is in good condition and leads to a pond at the end of the road. You may see deer, boars, armadillos, vultures, birds, and alligators. Take water, binoculars, bug spray, and a picnic to enjoy at one of several picnic areas. There are large fish in the pond, a covered boardwalk to fish from, and also alligators, so keep children and pets safe. Fill your tank and check your tires. It would be an expensive service call. There is cell phone service.

While driving through DuPuis Reserve, my friend and I felt like we were driving through old Florida The roads are unpaved, so I recommend using s SUV or pick-up truck. The nature was beautiful. We saw a bald eagle flyover, red-tailed hawk, red-shouldered hawks, warblers, woodpeckers and some wading birds.

We went for Thanksgiving weekend with the horses. Their nature trails are GREAT!!! I wish they would've had more showers. There was only 1 per gender, kind of sucks! But, to camp it is absolutely amazing! We went as a couple but met up with a pretty big group of friends & had an amazing time. It's a great way to explore the scenic trails with the horses. Just be aware of the wild Boars... Take A LOT of bug repellent, it is definitely needed.

We spent two night at the Seminole Inn in Indiantown and planned to ride bikes in the DuPuis Forest. When we drove in there was a burn in progress. So, the green beauty I had hoped for was mainly brown and char. There were, however, a few green spots here and there. We got our bikes out at a picnic area and wanted to ride the 4.5 miles to the fishing pier. The road had just been leveled and so there were soft spots of sand that were hard to pedal in, but we endured and got to the pier. Pedaled back and chocked it up to getting a good leg workout. There was not burned area for the last mile to the pier, so that was nice. I think if you want to visit this year to see all the beautiful trees, forget it till next year. I read that they burn every three years, so maybe we'll have better luck next year.
