My wife and I have visited this winery a number of times over the years. It's a favorite and always on our loop when we taste wine in Santa Inez. Driving home from Paso Robles yesterday, we fortuitously stopped here and had one of the best wine-tasting experiences we have ever had while escaping the worst downpour of the afternoon. Our experience started with our friendly and very knowledgeable sommelier (Jessica). It was entertaining as well as educational to hear her describe the wines. For example, Jessica poured the Grenache on the tasting menu and then opened a bottle of Rhapsodie to let us detect the same Grenache grape that is 68% of the Rhapsodie blend. I remember purchasing Rhapsodie last time (and again this time), but I remarked that I had a hard time opening the bottle with its bulbous rubbery cap. Jessica gave us an impromptu lesson on how to open a bottle with that particular cap. Problem solved! The afternoon was enjoyable, and we learned so much from Jessica about wines in general and the grapes grown in various wineries from Santa Inez to Paso Robles. We left with our three bottles of wine and look forward to visiting again this summer.

The most delightful part of this winery is the outdoor picnic area. You may bring in your own snacks or a full picnic.
The 2020 Zephyr which is 59% Cab Sauvignon , Cabernet Franc, Grenache and Syrah. Delicioso! A bottle to take home of course. Wine tasting was only $25 for five pours.

Had a great time at the winery. Everything from the vineyard itself, to the music and fantastic food truck made the Sunday a perfect day. Even after the outdoor wine tasting, decided to share a bottle just to enjoy the day. Might even bring our dog the next time!
Loved the Soleil Rouge and Pinto Noir Reserve. Had to have a case shipped back home too!
(As a follow up, had a shipping issue due to a UPS mistake. Genesis was great to make sure we got everything on the order, plus more! Great customer service.)

I had been here years ago for a private dinner party. Returned for a tasting. It was hit so we went inside and sat at the bar. Karen, our tasting sommelier was a hoot. She let us taste some wines off the menu that looked interesting and we bought a few on our way out. It’s a large winery quite popular. The wines are in the mid range price wise and the experience was great fun.

Beautiful place, nice wines, reasonably priced. Enjoyed lazy afternoon with good wine and excellent service. Strongly recommended. Try to be there before noon to ensure no lines for entering the patio.

I saw all the great reviews on TripAdvisor, so we meandered down to Sunstone and found it a hip spot with some good wine. There is a lot of outdoor seating, and the staff come to you with the wines. We opted for the $20/six wines and very much enjoyed the variety -- a rose, a grenache, a sauvignon blanc, a merlot, a syrah, and a cab. Ended up buying two bottles. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, and the vibe was progressive and trendy. Right next to Kalyra Winery, so makes a great 1-2 punch!

Was this a winery or a beer garden? I had been to Sunstone years ago and boy, has it changed! I recalled it being a large property with great sunset views from the picnic areas. Now it looks like a county fair with LOADS of people, wine flowing like crazy, DJ club music pumping, and FOOD TRUCKS. This is where you'd want to go to sit outside to grab 5 different wines, sit around birthday parties, and listen to a KIIS FM playlist. Not the wine experience if you're even considering tasting or buying. Maybe I'm a tiny bit of a snob, but I wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Seriously, I felt like I was in a carnival beer/wine garden. Worst part is that the outdoor wine tasting picnic area seemed fenced in so you couldn't enjoy any of the scenery unless you were in the parking lot or the drive in.
The staff, although very pleasant and attentive, seemed to be more motivated in keeping the wine flowing than explaining what they were serving. Most were what seemed young college students.
Not to completely bash the winery, but it wasn't my style. I could see lots of people enjoying being outside and drinking, especially during COVID. The table runners, 5+, were hustling to keep glasses full. It was a fun atmosphere. I'm sure it's a good business model for them to sell wine at the winery, but arriving from other quiet, peaceful and scenic wineries (what most people expect), this was way different.

Lovely facility, but mediocre wines, poor service, staff was unmasked, covered outdoor area smelled like sewage. Go to Gainey for good wives, good service, and no noxious fumes.

My daughter and I were on a vacation. I had volunteered to be the dsignated driver so she could fully enjoy all the wine samples that were served to us. Each different wine was described as they poured her a glass.

I have been to numerous wineries in this area, and this was by far the least enjoyable.
The wine wasn’t anything special, the property was overbooked, and the service was terrible. It wasn’t terrible because of the people, they were severely understaffed. It also took almost an hour standing g in line to enter the ladies bathroom.
Would not recommend. If you want to enjoy your wine tasting experience in the SY Valley….try one of the smaller vineyards. They will take great care of you.

Absolutely and they will love this place I assure you. Go to Sunstone website call or e=mail them they will work with you/ There is also a villa at this location.
