After missing our ferry to start fishing in Haines, I called Heather in a panic. She reassured me that she’d take of it and soon enough her and her husband Asanti came to our rescue in Skagway. They drove the ship the full 45 min away to pick us up. Talk about service.
It only got better from there. The husband and wife duo were so kind and even said we’d cover more ground fishing from Skagway to Haines. And that we did! We caught our first King Salmon in the first 10 minutes and then kept pulling up more till we reached a total of 10 King Salmon caught!
I have to mention the boat. It was a newer boat with a nice, clean working bathroom. Also, the boat had a catamaran hull, which provided a much more stable ride than other boats that typically have a single v shaped hull.
They made us feel VIP with coffee and hot chocolate as well as snacks for us to munch on.
My husband caught “the fish of the year!” A 30 lb King Salmon that he was struggling to reel in. What a thrilling experience!
Overall, I can’t recommend this family owned business enough. We opted for the private charter boat so it was just the 4 of us plus Heather and Asanti. These folks know what they’re doing. If you’re looking for a trip of a lifetime you must do this! It was the best part of our whole Alaska vacation.

Surprisingly they could never fit me onto a trip.
Unless you gave a ‘boatload’ of friends don’t bother trying these folks. They won’t accommodate you.

I am so very sorry we could not get you out on the water for a fishing experience. As was explained since February, I try to limit the number of separate parties on board and often have a tough time accommodating singles. Our boat is often booked privately. Unfortunately our schedules did not match up and the few days that were possible to get you out there were days that you were booked for something else. The weather also played a part. Our policy is if we would not take our toddler and my mum on a charter to have fun then we will not take guests. I am very sorry that it did not work out and understand your frustration but there just wasn't anything we could do.

Truly the highlight of our week in Alaska! Heather and Asanti were AMAZING and we had the time of our lives! We caught 11 king salmon, so it was a super successful trip, but more than that.. the memories were priceless!! We ended the day feeling like we'd spent a day fishing with friends! Not to mention the most beautiful scenery you could imagine! Can not recommend enough!

THIS SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST CHOICE!
Wow. Asanti and Heather were incredible hosts. Great communication. On time arrival. Clear and concise instructions. SNACKS! The fishing equipment was top notch. The boat was in great condition and very safe. We caught a ton of fish and Asanti and Heather were great outfitters and guides. Heather helped us work the ferry in Haines and even gave us a tour. The highlight of our trip and probably our year.

What a fun trip. Asanti and Heather were so great. They had great stories and a wealth of information about Haines and the waters around it. Heather even gave us a quick tour of the quaint town of Haines. If you have the opportunity to book a fishing charter with them, don’t hesitate.

I called Heather from Tampa FL and she quickly pulled up the cruise schedule and rearranged her schedule to accommodate my family during our short stay in Skagway. Payment was very simple using PayPal for the invoices sent by Heather. The Carpe Diem was conveniently located in the marina next to the cruise ship.
The trip was so much more than fishing and was a master class in Alaskan environment, ecology and conservation. Heather and Asanti were a joy and a wealth of knowledge. The scenery was breathtaking. The boat was everything you would expect and offered plenty of cover to get out of the weather. One of our favorite memories was my wife trying to hold the slipperiest King Salmon we caught that day. Memories for a lifetime. Highly recommended.
The trip was so much more than fishing and was a master class in Alaskan environment, ecology and conservation. Heather and Asanti were a joy and a wealth of knowledge. The scenery was breathtaking. Some tours take you fishing; Carpe Diem takes you CATCHING. We had five on the boat but only three fishing, and I have lost track of the number of king salmon we caught. (I also pulled in a Dolly Varden, but that doesn't count since it's small) Had an issue with fuel, which was quickly fixed, and Heather and Asanti extended our charter to make up for the lost time. Wanna catch fish? Book this. Wanna see beautiful scenery? Book this. Wanna see wildlife, like eagles pulling fish out of the water? Book this. Upon disembarking in Haines, Heather gave us a quick tour of the town, making sure to point out the brewery, which is also recommended.

HIGHLY recommend this Heather and A's fishing charter! Heather was extremely helpful in answering all my touristy questions and she was dead on! This charter in Haines was much Calmer than any fishing charter in Skagway. We caught over 6 King Salmon on the Boat, saw TONS of Bald eagles and waterfalls. What an amazing trip. Then they gave us the downlow on Haines and we checked out the American Bald Eagle Foundation and the Port Chilkoot Distillery to round out our day before we headed back in time to board our cruise ship. One of the best excursions on our Alaskan cruise adventure. Thanks guys!

Oh yeah! Thank you for the great review! We really do care about making sure your vacation time is memorable! Haines is such a wonderful town and it is so nice fishing and boating around here since there is so little boat traffic. Just you and the eagles and the fish! I am so glad we got to be part of your Alaskan adventure!

We loved our charter and are so glad we made time to go. We caught some beaitiful Kings - one was 25-26lbs. The captain and crew are so much fun and make every effort to get the fish on and make guests comfortable. Love love loved it!

How much do you charge for the salmon trolling per person. Do you offer group rates as well.nif so, how many and at what price. Do you have anything available for August 1, 2018?.
