I am from out of town and first time in Washington DC area. We were in a hotel. that was about a mile away from Cameron Run Park. Everything says that it was open, online, on your website, and per the prerecorded phone message. So we walked there thinking it was open. We went there to play miniature golf and enjoy the great outdoors but to our surprise it was closed. My family and i was very disappointed. It was a long walk with two small children and and elderly people. This company needs to make sure that the information that is given out is correct and accurate. I would hate to see other visitors have a bad impression like we do.

It is small. We took our teen daughters ice skating and then walked around and finished in two hours. Everyone enjoyed the experience. Easy to reach and plenty of parking. It is not a destination but worth the time if staying in the area. Not expensive either.

Yesterday on 8/8/2022, my kids visited Cameron Run Regional Park. They paid admission, but only had 15 minutes to swim before the park closed due to the weather. It cost them $60.00. They requested a refund at the gate, but were refused. What I find annoying is allowing patrons to pay and enter the park knowing that it may be closing soon due to inclement weather. Anyone who approached the booth were refused a refund by the staff .
Cameron Run took advantage of its patrons.

Cameron Run can do better.

Lots of lounge chairs and pass holders get in a few minutes early.

The Park polices patrons bringing in outside food or beverages. Then, they should provide quality concession stands. I stood in a long line one day around noon for a hot dog and just gave up. The next time, I went into the cafe at about 11:02am. I ordered a hot dog and paid for it. $3.18. After 22 minutes, it still wasn't ready. They brought out nuggets and then fries, but no hot dogs. I asked for a refund, which I didn't get. If they are not ready to serve customers at opening, then don't open or relax the rules so that I can bring a sandwich or something. Terrible customer service!

I made two visits in one week: 1. Mini golf with my husband, brother-in-law, and two boys. Very tame but mostly shaded mini golf course. Relaxing for most of us; great fun for the 7yo. Nothing else to say about it.

2. Another day, I took three boys ages 7, 8, and 9 to the waterpark for 4.5 hours. The only part of the waterpark we did not explore was the playground. The rest of my review is about the waterpark.

Waterpark Tips:
-Participate in the children's Fairfax library summer reading program to obtain free admission per participant for 1 visit.
-Go on a low-crowd day.
-Don't stop at the first restroom you see - we got there when the park opened and they still hadn't put TP in that restroom - just go forward to the big changing area.
-All-day locker rental is $5. Each locker is horizontal and holds about 1 full backpack. The key is similar to rec center keys and pins onto your swimsuit.
-Beach umbrellas do not keep out rain. If you expect rain, pack your towels in a plastic bag.
-Don't ride the red or green slide unless you're a little kid; you'll go slow or get stuck! (Guess who got stuck...)
-You can't wear goggles on the slides for people 48 inches or taller. The lifeguards let us toss our goggles down the slide and the attendant at the bottom picked them up.
-FREE inner tubes and life vests to borrow in the wave pool.

Key features:
-Small park .... better for mom's feet!
-Splash pad and kiddie lagoon right next to each other; I was able to watch kids in both areas on a low-attendance day
-5 big slides total for kids 48 inches or taller (the yellow tube and the straight slides are the fastest)
-2 small slides for shorter kids
-One wading area for age 6 & under only; but a solid wall prevents parents from supervising both kiddie slides and 6& under area simultaneously
-Playground and sandbox available; we didn't visit those though
-Wave pool with reasonably high waves for the kiddie crowd and vigilant lifeguards
-Photo op for pretend surfing

Food:
-Reasonable food prices at two food huts (we went to both), mostly junk food but a large salad available at the far cafe. I spent about $30 for three boys and myself; we brought our own drinks.
-"Best pizza" he ever had, according to the 9yo
-Dippin' Dots seemed expensive to me - $4.95 for the smallest dish

We went to Great Waves in Cameron Run Regional Park with a 3 year old and 8 year old and both kids had a great time. The wave pool was fun and the small water slides and splash area were perfect for them.

Someone told me before going that camp kids leave by 3 and as we arrived at 2:30 we saw lines and lines of them loading onto buses. The park wasn’t deserted but it was nice the big groups had left for the day.

I'd always known this water park is rundown in the recent several years and gets to capacity so people are turned away sometimes. But, we went. The wave pool is OK, I have no idea how it compares to the one in Manassas and it's definitely no Great Wolf or Kings Dominion type. Unfortunately people are rude and the water is a bit dirty in terms of floating long hair and people wearing Nike sneakers IN the water. Nuf said.

Pushy people even down to the children! My 11yo nephew was wiping his eyes standing amongst people on floating tubes and some teenage girl pushed her way through the crowd pushing him IN THE FACE. What is wrong with people?!

The food place are pricey as are the Dippin' Dots which they ran out of chocolate if not all at 2:30pm. You can't bring in snacks, they check your bags but you're allowed to bring water. The bathrooms are kinda gross and the outdoor showers don't work well. Even the air around the slides smell like mildew so maybe that's reeking off the wet areas (steps, slides, main level). Hope they improve this place.

You can buy tickets online ($15ish for those over 48" tall), but not senior tickets. Luckily the line was not long at 12:30 (we went on a Sunday in mid-July so that says a lot);l the senior rate is $9ish. So we tried it. Not going back again.

We went to great waves today and although small it was nice to cool off and play in the water. Admission price was about $14 for above 48" and about $11 for under 48". There really are only a few slides (four different ones) for the above 48" and two small slides for the little kids. The wave pool was ok but the waves are not very big. I think they could improve on the food but it wasn't bad, just a little dirty. Smaller kids will have fun but thrill seekers will be bored here.

The management is no where concerned about the safety of its guests , just a small inattentiveness is enough to lose your stuff and there is no way to get it back .There isn't any cctvs or warning boards or any other safety measures to avoid theft like activities .They don't take any action against such incidents .With my personal experience ,undoubtedly its a treacherous place to visit.

This smallish (26 acre) park offers a variety of facilities: a big water park, batting cages, 18-hole miniature golf course, picnic shelters, and even fishing (catfish and trout) in the park's four acre "lake."

The latter, called Lake Cook after a long serving Alexandria city engineer, is actually a stormwater pond - part of a self-sustaining water treatment system for storm runoff. This appears to be the subject of some new additions to this park with a nice paved foot path and fancy wood foot bridges, some sculpture, and information placards explaining how the water treatment process works. This part of the park is separate from the older parking lot and the other facilities, but if you follow walk down the access road (blocked with a no vehicle traffic sign) behind the water park, you'll end up there. Of course, the lake also has its own small parking area with handicap ramps, etc.

If you walk down the side walk along Eisenhower to the west, you'll come up on the city's animal shelter (which still technically is in the park) and then you'll run into Tarleton Park which has some nature trails and the Holmes Run Trail which parallels Holmes Run Creek to the northwest all the way to Lake Barcroft.
