Great family breakfast! Value for money!

Visited for breakfast with my family. Our waitron Changu was fabulous with her attention to detail and great service! I mentioned to her that I collect plastic bottle caps for charity, and she immediately looked for some, washed them, and gave them to me! Going the extra mile - thank you!!!

Extrêmement déçu ! J’ai dû prendre un taxi ( 50P ) pour venir jusqu’ici sur conseil de l’hôtel
Mais grosse déception à l’arrivée ( 14:45 ) car le restaurant ferme à 15:00 donc seul le service des boissons est assuré mais visiblement le personnel est fatigué , peu avenant et peu enclin à faire un effort supplémentaire ( ce que je comprends vu les conditions de travail )
Néanmoins j’ai fais l’effort de prendre un taxi pour venir jusqu’ici et mon désappointement est grand.
Même chose à la boutique
Aucune attention de la vendeuse
Aucun conseil lorsque je pose des questions sur les objets en vente, aucun effort pour me renseigner ni m’aider. . .
C’est vraiment dommage et cela donne, une fois encore , une très mauvaise image du pays et en particulier à Gaborone ou l’accueil du client est inexistant partout ou presque ( sauf au Service Philatélique et dans l’hôtel ou je séjourne )

Exquisite baskets and great value for money

I was focused on baskets, as basketry in Botswana is one of the finest in the world. At Botswanacraft there are baskets for all purses, and they are honestly priced following a hierarchy that reflects the degree of intricacy of the design and the finesse of the weave. If you are after gifts that do not cost too much, head for the corner where baskets of small-medium measure are piled. You'll figure out what the numbers 1, 2, 3,...etc...mean in terms of pulas (the local currency).
If you are after work of arts that cost you over 200 dollars (120 Euro) go to where there are baskets hung on the wall. Some are absolutely amazing. The weave is fine and the development of the design is obtained by simply threading reeds of different natural colour. I was transfixed at some of the basketry work. And, come to think of it later when I was in Cape Town, prices at Botswanacraft are really honest! My major purchase was valued around 80 dollars, but it was worth every single cent. Next time...hopefully (if I manage to go back to that beautiful country) I will get one of the expensive pieces...before gallery people in Paris, Milan, London...discover the beauty of this humble and magnificent art of the Setswana.
I had the same experience in Laos years ago, when I purchased an incredibly beautiful, hand-woven shawl for 120 AUD, and it is now worth five times what I paid.
Do not be afraid by the price of the baskets if it is over 500 AUD or more. Just think about the quality of the craftmanship and the time spent to make them. And compare with other baskets that you may find elsewhere in Africa and sold in your country. Ad then you'll agree with me...it is worth investing in the pieces that will grace your home with something unique.

Very interesting traditional cuisine. Try the goat and you will not regret. Only Fresh fruit jus was missing to have a complete taste of Botswana

What a great find this was. Fabulous gifts to buy and take home. Wonderful service. There is a lovely restaurant there too. You wont wanna miss this spot !

They offer the highest quality baskets at fixed prices. Some of the huge ones cost 600 Euro but they are superb. So is a sales guy there.

Botswanacraft does have the widest range of local, regional and African arts and crafts but it is most known as having the most beautiful collection of exquisite Botswana baskets and a fantastic collection of African music for sale, featuring many of the continent’s most talented artists. Musical events are hosted by Botswanacraft but I Ben if there is no event on the day you visit you can enjoy a taste of local cuisine as traditional meals can be ordered for lunch as well as European and enjoyed be with the cool of shade outside.

The food in the restaurant was very good. We appreciated the special and agreable atmosphere there. We had a very kind and attentive waiter called Oteng who helped us make a selection fom the menu.
You definitely have to enjoy the restaurant and the shop.
