This winery is very special. A very small boutique vineyard with extremely interesting wines. Very reasonably prices. The wine maker has been adventurous in his choices. An absolute must visit.

I got together with some old school friends for an evening at Dolce Vista Winery, owned and operated by Gary Wood, who I was at school with 50-odd years ago. Great night, great venue and excellent Italian wines. Highly recommended.

We've been trying to cycle to all the Hawke's bay wineries and I don't know why we've left Dolce Vista for so long. Great little winery, excellent tasting, lovely to meet and talk with the wine maker. He's going to get his website back up and running soon but currently open at the weekends from 11:30 til 16:30.

A winery off the beaten track which we accidentally stumbled upon but what a treat! A trip through the vines to taste the different grapes followed by a sampling of wines that you won’t find elsewhere at extremely good value! This is an absolute must to visit a wine maker that does it for passion and has a passion for it.

Varieties you won't find elsewhere, dedicated to Italian varieties.
These wines are quite old being 6 to 12 years old so certainly well aged. Something you don't find elsewhere.
6 wines in total, 3 white and 3 red.
Served by the owner himself so if really interested have a chat.
Well worth a visit for some good, different wines.

Arrived at the cellar door sales. One wine tour group being looked after by one person and a couple being served at the counter. We were asked if we were wanting a tasting. Stated we wished to try their Rose. Received a look of disdain and told he would finish with the couple he was talking to. Five to eight minutes later - still no attention so we left and went elsewhere. Great service at the next winery that was “busy”

Just great fun. Gary is a terrific host, funny, welcoming, frank and open. Six delicious wines, Italian grape varieties and so very different from most of neighbouring wineries. We had a tour of the vines and a sing song around the piano. It was great entertainment as well as good supping. Honest wines from an honest winemaker. Make sure you include Dolce Vista on your tour.

Season has started again and our small group visited the winery for the first time this year. Garry is unchanged - just as welcoming and happy to chat. Very generous with his wine tasting and as usual we managed to partake of a couple of bottles to go with the platters we brought with us. When not dealing with visitors Garry was happy to sit and join us. The wines are still of a good quality and we managed to get a few to escape with us for home consumption. Evidently Garry will do platters as well this season but we had brought our own so can't comment on them. Overall we recommend a visit - nice and casual - have a taste and buy a bottle (or two or so)

We have been here before a number of times - Gary is an excellent host and his wines are very good. Today we had the vineyard blend and a Marzamino together with a picnic we brought with us. He used to provide food but is a sole host and it was just too much for one person to handle. That's okay as we are happy to bring our own snacks. We're red drinkers but have tasted his whites and found them to be excellent - Italian style wines. Worth stopping off for a enjoyable afternoon

Great boutique Winery! Lovely choice of Wine based on Italian wines! Gary who has work as a consultant for other wineries, he has a great wealth of knowledge and was an excellent host. I would recommend that you try the Bubbles as they are very nice! Don't miss this out if doing Wine tasting tour.
