Little outdoor cafe has good snacks and great coffee. Walking and visiting the Mill is always a pleasure.

Had a great time visiting & eating ice cream by the mill!, staff even took photos of our family together, lovely spot to relax.

Entry is expensive for very short tour. No free car parking. Machine doesn’t take cash. Guides are knowledgable, however.

Lane beautiful short break only a short trip up the A1. We stayed on the campsite for a couple of nights And loved it. Lovely walks along the Ouse. Nice pubs nearby. Friendly staff and good facilities. Highly recommended

Great location for tranquility. We stayed at the Waterclose Meadows campsite adjoining this area.
Peaceful village right on the river banks. Large picnic area where all the locals gather for picnic and for the kids to swim in river. Able to launch the Kayak from here so me and the Mrs paddled down river a mile or so which was so calming. Didnt see the mill in operation as we here over the weekend but lovely village.

We stayed here over the bank holiday in our camper van. The site was lovely, spacious and family friendly. The cafe was lovely and the facilities were so clean. We had a pleasant stay. The only thing we found was an issue was between 1030-1200 the toilets were closed for cleaning with just one open, which had a shower in. Understand they need to be cleaned, but would probably be better after everyone has left at 1200, and the shower needs to be shut off, because despite the sign not to use it, clearly people still do, which created a queue!

Little cafe on National Trust site usually good service and fairly quick is very popular with visitors campers and locals. We always have the takeaway coffee and lovely chocolate brownies. Which you can take and sit in or out or around the mill area. Staff on the site friendly. Has a nice feel to the area. Added bonus boat hire near by.

This was one of the most amazing locations for camping me and my family have experienced.
Right next to the river, walking distance to the pub and village shop and some fantastic walks right on your doorstep. Facilities are great all very well kept.
Unfortunately the management of the site is very poor. The way the site is run is very regimented and takes all the fun out of camping. The way they try to ask you to pitch up is very confusing and most people end up being asked to move after pitching their tent or parking the caravan. I certainly won't be returning unless a change of management takes place.
Very disappointed.

The up side👍🏻really lovely site, great facilities, great position next to the river. The downside, the site is run by a management team void of all common sense, a total misinterpretation of ‘their’ rules.
We arrived late (but before the 8pm cut off) to a spot next to my sister and family, to be greeted by a night warden who was a stickler for the rules and clearly lives in fear of the management, stating that if my brother in law parked in the wrong spot ‘heads would roll’ 😳! We parked our camper in the correct spot as stated by the night warden with a fly sheet awning pegged out, my bro in law parking in the ‘heads would roll’ spot next to us, which the night warden said he could.
We had a cracking first day, all day on the river, nice walk, pint at the pub, back for tea. Just after tea ‘CLAIRE’ ‘the manager appeared, told us that she’d been trying to contact all day stating the camper had to move ‘1 metre!’ CLAIRE, who has both my wife’s number and my sisters number but maybe forgot to dial them? Insisted that we move away from my sisters tent by one metre, stating that if our camper went up in flames and we perished, at least my sister, brother in law and children would be saved! The way in which she, conducted her self was abysmal, a completely over the top approach, using her position to flex her management muscles. I was livid and after me using a few expletives to describe what a was a complete farce and the abuse of her position as manager, we moved! This same attitude was apparent to many other campers, the couple opposite us said they’d watched a family pitch their entire tent only to be then asked to move it after.
So as I said a great site, let down by the regimented management, with little in the way of common sense. They’ve forgotten the meaning of camping, that of freedom, at one with nature, just us and the fresh air, some simple food, a few drinks and a night under the stars.
We will go back when the management changes…

I stayed at the campsite in May 2022. The site was lovely, the surrounding area beautiful with lots of walking and spots for the dogs to take a dip. We had a great time
Our pitch was next to the ladies loo and pot washing area. The loo was in constant use throughout the day and occasionally at night and the banging of the door in the night caused my dog to grumble. The washing up facilities were in use until midnight and there was a lot of noise from there, people banging pots, chatting and laughing loudly with no thought of the campers right next to them. The site has a quiet policy from, I think 10pm so it would have been nice for this to be implemented in the washing up area.

I have been told by someone who works there that they are still milling flour on Sunday and is still open Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.

Does anyone know where the loud music comes from every night near this site? There has been live music and shouting and screaming playing every night we have been here at, I can only assume, a venue next to the site. We have not been able to find it however it is next door. Tonight is a birthday party and it is gradually getting louder and louder. No one can sleep and it's keeping the children in the site awake! I would like to know what the venue is so we can maybe get it turned down unburden to get some sleep at least one night!

I do not know who is responsible for the loud music. The mill is next to a very large flood plain and I know children/teenagers like to hang out especially at this time of year, as it is the summer holidays. They are probably doing what all teenagers like to do. Why don't you get the local authorities involved. It is disturbing the local community. Probably a quiet word is needed as the ones coursing the problem are probably unaware they are coursing a issue.
