If you are in Huntingdon for an reason, make time to visit the museum. The volunteers do a brilliant job and are keen to offer information, show off exhibits and provide insights into Cromwell and his legacy.

Do not be fooled by the size of this museum . It is jammed packed with history and you will need about 1.5 to 2 hours to take everything in fully. It caters for all ages and all levels of historical knowledge. I did not know very much about Cromwell when entering the museum; just what I learnt in High School....... But after the fantastic displays and knowledge of the staff I left so much more informed and now want to carry on reading on and around Cromwell. Thank you to Martin one of the staff there who very happily shared his knowledge with us ; he was a pleasure to listen to. A very well curated museum . Free but you can give a donation.

Well worth a stop. Plenty there to mull over if you have the time. My experience has been at least one 3-4 hour visit with students. Great staff.

Housed in a small but fabulous building. We were greeted by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable gentleman who gave us an overview of Cromwell and the exhibit. The exhibit is full of quality artefacts and interesting information relating to Cromwell. I particularly liked the portraits. There is much to see and read, and ultimately it is left to you to ponder on the pros and cons of Cromwell's legacy.

A fascinating place absolutely packed with history. The team inside were enthusiastic and knowledgeable as well as very friendly.
It is free to enter but welcomes any donations.
It's a compact museum so you will not spend a long day there, probably no more than an hour or so, but you could travel to Ely afterwards and visit Cromwells House too as we did!

We were lucky enough to be given a personal tour of this tiny, but absolutely packed, museum. Despite its size, the museum is filled to the top with loads of amazing artefacts and paintings, chronicling the life of Oliver Cromwell and the key historical events of his life. There are a few parts of the museum which are interactive and there are a few short films that help you learn about the important events of the time in an accessible way. Some genuine and important items have been acquired by or loaned to the museum so it’s quite a surprise what objects are there, as well as some well-presented facsimiles. The curators are clearly absolutely steeped in the history of the time and can answer pretty much any relevant question, as well providing all sorts of anecdotes on related topics. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the curator and volunteers, who went above and beyond the call of duty to allow us to experience a very special tour of the museum. We learned a lot!

I went to the museum yesterday because there was a pikeman training. An activity for everyone and I absolutely enjoyed myself. I also got to hold a sword that was once thought to be owned by Oliver Cromwell. I felt like I was the chosen one because not many people get to hold it. I will never EVER forget this experience.

We traveled from Otley to visit this museum. My daughter spent 5 hours here, from opening to closing! The staff were so kind and helpful. Big thank you for making this a day she will never forget! (She’s 18, history student, obsessed with Oliver Cromwell)
Excellent displays. Fabulous location. 10 stars if I could.

My partner Karen and myself went to Huntingdon yesterday, We walked around the town loads of history, We went into the Cromwell Museum free to get in, The staff in there knew all about the place and told us it was a Monastery then a school until 1962 great visit still loads to see, We will be going back at a later date, But will stay over for a weekend

We stopped off here on our walk around Huntingdon. Lovely building full of history, and architecture , well worth a visit.

Thanks for your review and for taking the time to comment on your visit. Can I just mention that there is coffee available nearby and the Museum closes most days at 3.30 pm. Full details can be found on the link to the website.

Are dogs allowed in the museum?

Mr & Mrs L, I'm sorry for taking a while to reply to your query. I'm sorry but dogs aren't allowed in the museum. The museum is quite small, so you would be able to have a quick look round independently, whilst one of you looks after the dog outside.
