Our time at Ironwood Ranch was magical! The ranch and views were beautiful. The horses were gentle and well cared for. The guides were amazing. Our family made memories that will last a lifetime! A special thank you to Liloa and Kamaile for sharing their love for horses and Maui with our family!

We had a great experience with Lelio and Kamaili. They were both very nice and attentive. Both my wife and I were first time riders and the whole ride went very smoothly. They explained and demonstrated the instructions on how to ride clearly and the horses were very well trained. They take a good amount of pictures and short video clips. They also have a nice clean customer waiting area with benches, lockers, and a sink / soap so you can wash up after your ride. The trail mostly goes through a forested area with elephant grass and trees etc…but you do get a couple of limited views of the ocean. I would suggest they modify the trail a bit to include better and more views of the ocean.
Overall, we had a great time and it was a memorable experience. Well thought out procedures and set up and great people running this. It’s a tad bit on the expensive side for the experience but I believe it’s probably better than the other riding options on the island. Would recommend.

Kada was a great leader and frendly good with the horses. Pretty views amid lush ranch property and good trail. Excellent customer service.

Ironwood ranch was a great riding experience! Lush and green in June. Horses were well tamed and easy walkers. Peta was a wonderful guide. Highly recommend.

It was so relaxing and beautiful. Lilao and Kamaile were so friendly and fun fun fun!!!! I can see the horses or so loved and cared for. I would definitely come back !!

Excellent experience. So so fun. We had a great guide and she was very knowledgeable of the terrain and shared a lot about the island. My granddaughter wanted to go horseback riding for her birthday and our experience with Ironwood did it disappoint. Beautiful scenery and the horses were sweet and amazing. So fun to ride. Very gentle and they love to snack on the way. Afterwards we got to feed them horse food and carrots. It was a dream come true for both of us. An experience to treasure. We highly recommend Ironwood for your horseback riding experience on Maui.

We had the best time ever and it was something we really needed to destress from everyday life. Our tour guide was an absolute gem! The horses were the sweetest, we will be coming back soon!

Our guides were lovely and informative throughout our ride. They shared Local points of interest as we rode through beautiful trails of lush green foliage … complete with wild pigs circling along to greet us! Loved the music which clearly MicFleetwood did along with my daughter’s horse, Bruno Mars. Thank you. We will return. Mahalo 🌸

How do you accommodate all the different levels of experience? I imagine some people have never even been on a horse! I'm trying to avoid a your that is really slow paced. I don't mind walking but would prefer a tour where it is not single file plodding along on bored horses! For those of us that are horse owners as well or have ridden for a while do you offer a different tour? I've been researching the different ranches and tours and noticed some allow limited cantering and possibly trotting too. Is that an option with your tour? Thanks!

If a spirited pace is what you want.... please book a private excursion for your group. Please remember we can only reach the pace of the most inexperienced rider.

Aloha, The time on the horse and the longer ride will take you up higher on the mountain. Also the 90 min ride departs 3 times a day and the 1 hr ride is usually 1 pm only.

Can my 4 year old ride if I hold the lead? He has only had a couple of horseback riding lessons, but he really enjoys it.

Prob not. I think they have an age limit if 8 or 10. I would give Gina a call to ask if they have anything for young riders.

Any guidance on which of the trail rides to do with a family of four? All of us are novice riders except our 7 year old equestrian ; )

We were pretty much the same scenario; our 7 yr old was the "equestrian". There was only one trail ride available when we went and I don't think it's going to be that different of an experience no matter which one you choose. Weather conditions tend to dictate. The Eco tour might be difficult to enjoy for those in the back to hear. I was in the rear and couldn't hear a think the guide was saying up front due to the wind.
My suggestion is to pick the one that best fits your timetable.

My husband and I are interested in booking this during our stay this week. Now we believe his weight should be fine based on the last time he weighed himself, which was recent. Do you simply provide the height and weight or do they weigh you with their own scale?

If your husband's weight is close to the max limit (220lbs I believe), they will weigh him when you arrive. Their priority is the safety of the horses.
