The Distillery Tour was excellent, our guide had a real passion for whisky and her Knowledge of distilling was amazing, it was a really good and very enjoyable tour.

Wir haben “The Art of Whisky Making” lange geplant und im August nun endlich auch machen können.
1 Tag Mitarbeit in der Destillerie, alle Produktionsschritte, alle Handgriffe, alles an einem Ort.
Mitarbeit in einem kleinen Team - es waren aktuell 3 Personen (Destilleriemanager, Stillman und ein Praktikant)
Ein herausragendes Erlebnis, ein wunderbarer Tag!

I planned to visit this Distillery along with another one in the same Region,. when i turned up it was closed and only the tea room was open. this was a major disappointment after driving over 2 hours to get to this area at least the other distillery was open and made up for the disappointment

As a small group of Whisky lovers getting back to Scotland after COVID has been difficult, as a number of Distilleries have yet to determine whether Distillery Visits are still to be offered. By doing some research we came across this relatively young Distillery which was a start up from scratch utilising a series of buildings previously operating as a cow barn.
The beauty of this Distillery is that it has been set up totally based on 100% traditional methods and processes for the production of whisky. It is on such a small scale that it is very easy to absorb the story behind the enterprise and the absolute passion of the person chiefly driving the whole project with the support of the MacPherson Grant family who own the facility which forms part of the Ballindalloch Estate.
The Distillery Manager, Mr Colin Poppy is a most knowledgeable and dedicated individual. His passion for what he is striving to achieve makes the whole experience very special.
We undertook the Extended Tour which lasts between 2 - 2.5 hours and includes a private tasting of 5 single malts, 2 relating to upcoming yet to be launched age statement single malts (scheduled for late next year) plus 3 Cragganmore sigle malts from the family's own whisky collection.
This is a must-do experience if you are serious about your love of single malt, and learning about the true method of production that stays close to its traditions.

I decided to try the Art of Making Whisky Experience. I’ve done a few tours of distilleries but really wanted to know how to make it and not just an overview of the process. This day provided all the answers. After being met by Brian, the distillery host, he introduced me to the 3 other staff, Colin, Davie and Ian. All of them were really enthusiastic about their jobs, and their passion for the product really showed.
This was a hands on experience, and everybody was keen to pass on their knowledge. They treated me as a team member and not a visitor, and this made a difference.
It may be a bit expensive, but if you are a whisky geek, spending the day here is a necessity. I already can’t wait to go back.

First off a big thanks to Brian for making this a tour of a lifetime. He really makes it all worth while. Second, don't go into this just for the dram at the end. This distillery can't yet sell their product so if you're looking for the usual tour with the gift shop at the end, don't bother as you'll be sorely disappointed. What you will get is an up close look at a distillery dedicated to doing it right the first time. No shortcuts here and they're not aiming for "okay" whisky. The company is going all out to make sure it's the best whisky from a great distillery.

Es ist eine Freude Brian, dem Guide (Gastgeber trifft es besser), zuzuhören - in Englisch! Die Destillerie macht alles in Handarbeit ohne Computer. Viel erfahren auf kleinem Raum. Und drei Drams (alle älter als 26 Jahre) aus dem Privatbesitz der Besitzer "tackern einem die Freude ins Gesicht". Wir waren jetzt zum zweiten Mal dort.

Absolute 5-star experience. Best distillery I’ve visited in Scotland. It’s brand-new, totally independent, and run by a small group of whisky-geeks with a true passion for what they do. They’re committed to a fully old-school distilling process, so if you want to see how whisky was made in the 1800s, book a tour here, where Brian (a spectacular guide), will tailor the tour to your level of interest/knowledge.
Note - because it’s so new, they don’t have any Ballindalloch whisky for you to try (it’s still aging). But don’t be turned off by that... Brian has a surprise tasting waiting for you at the end, and trust me, it more than makes up for it.
Their passion and commitment is a treat to see, and I’m itching to come back in a few years to try the finished product.
Note - because it’s so new, they don’t have any Ballindalloch whisky for you to try (it’s still aging). But don’t be turned off by that... Brian has a surprise tasting waiting for you at the end, and trust me, it more than makes up for it.

This Tour of Ballindalloch Distillery was absolutely fascinating. Brian is incredibly knowledgeable and provides a superb insight into the challenges of producing a top of the range Single Malt Whiskey.
The passion and pride that he and his fellow team members obviously have for the production of whiskey as well as for the product as a whole is very apparent during the tour. Consequently this tour is by far superior to any others in the region and worth the entrance fee- Highly recommended

As part of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, I paid a visit to this gem of a distillery. Family owned, you will get a detailed tour of the distillery; this is no “in and out in an hour” tour, you will be here for 2.5 hours. Given that they have not produced a bottle yet, you might want to know what to expect from the tasting at the end? Well, you’re in for a treat but you’ll need to visit to find out for yourself.
