Easy hike to a gorgeous waterfall, this one's a no brainer. Unfortunately it is pretty popular though. Don't miss it!!!

Do your research before going. I knew it would be hard, but I was not prepared for how hard. It is my own fault, not the fault of the tour company or tour guide. I have weak ankles and was unable to complete the hike. Make sure you have a hiking stick would be my advice.

I love going to secret falls. It’s a fun family outing on a nice day. (Watch the weather though...you don’t want to be caught in a flash flood). An easy trip to do on your own but you will need to rent kayaks to get there. Favorite place for that is the Hawaiian village

Our kayak and hike to the falls required a bit of work but was worth the effort. This is a sacred place to the Hawaiian people so do treat it with respect. Do not attempt the trek if you are totally out of shape.

Super epic day. First you kayak, then you hike. You can take a tour or go on your own. At the end there is an awesome waterfall that you can swim at. The trail itself is SUPER muddy (we have hiked dryer trails on rainy days). Water shoes is a must (I ended up going bare foot, which worked but felt really risky).

We got to the Secret Falls after a 2 mile kayak trip. The trail is very muddy and slippery. It is not difficult to hike if you are careful and don't mind getting muddy. After reading some of the review my wife and I had mild concern about our ability to complete the hike. We are in our sixties and in decent shape. We had no issues. I went swimming (the pool is 3 to 6 feet deep) and stood under the waterfall. Overall a great time.

This is a must do trip. Rent a kayak and head on up. Met many people on their way out and all said they’re having a blast!

Great paddle and fun hike. You WILL get muddy. If you head out about 10:30am and leisurely paddle by the time you get to the falls most morning tour groups will be soon packing up. When you cross the first river, use the rope. The current can be stronger than it appears. After crossing, grab one of the walking sticks on the other side. I never hike with one but was glad to have it. The trail is slick. We hiked in our keens and they worked out great. Put bug spray on before hiking in and when heading out from the falls. You will need it!
We rented from Wailua Kayak Adventures and had a great experience.

Amazing secret waterfall coupled with a fantastic muddy hike to get there. Well worth it. The water is cold but I suggest going in.

This is one of the many great family adventures you can enjoy on the island of Kauai. A trip to the Secret Falls in Wailua consists of a two-mile kayak up the river to the walking trail and a one mile hike through the jungle to arrive at the falls. We decided to rent our own kayaks and do a self-guided tour (we rented from Kauai Kayaks). The trip up the river is about 30-45 minutes depending on your skill and pace you desire. The trail is easy to find. The kayak rental place gives you a map, but you can easily follow the other kayaks. Once at the trail, park your kayaks on a small beach and begin your hike. This part is where the adventure really begins. We went in early December and the trail was extremely muddy. By muddy, I mean muddy. Pick up a hiking stick at the beginning of the trail (you can thank me later). Wear good hiking shoes. I can’t stress this enough. You will have to cross a large stream of rapids (there is a rope across to help) and walk in knee deep mud throughout the trail. The trail is not dangerous, unless you try to hurry. There is no elevation change, except for a small set of stone stairs near the end. There are also a couple of other switchback streams you have to cross near the falls. Once you reach the falls you can enjoy a photo op or a quick plunge in the pool beneath the falls. This incredible waterfall is worth the rain, mud and physical effort. After your time at the waterfall you have to return back the way you came. A one mile hike, pick up your kayak on the beach and finish your adventure with the final two miles paddling. My family had a great time. It is suitable for those probably 10 and over. The mud gets knee deep at times. Go early, wear shoes and clothing appropriate for the terrain and mud. The entire kayak/hike takes around 4 hours. Have fun...
