Great place for a show. All good seats and good leg room. Terrific theatre for any kind of show. Accoustics seem good and volunteer staff always helpful.

Valdy was excellent, very entertaining, we loved his show! He really is a Canadian Gem. Huge shoutout to all of the staff at Mary Winspear - I was nervous, lots of places say they are following the guidelines of CoVid and lots try but don’t quite have it down. The entire staff at the Mary Winspear have it locked down, prescreen with a phone call, tables and seating pre arranged, staggered entrance and exit of the event so there is no gathering of people,beverages ordered via text, hand sanitizer before you go in... folks bring your own mask to help save them a little money... staff direct you at a distance and all are wearing their masks. It can’t be easy and you all do it so well. Thank you all for a wonderful night.

I have attended events and put on events at the Mary Winspear Centre. It is a great venue for theatre and business events of different sizes. Their meeting rooms are comfortable and have all of the equipment one would need.

The center is very well organized for many different types of event. From smaller reception to full shows, you may have all the excellent service one may be expected. A full kitchen is available. The staff is really kind.

It was a great space, easy to navigate your way through the building. Bathrooms were clean. Lots of great parking. Wonderful place to have a reception and we missed a George Canyon concert there the night before.

Staff at Mary Winspear are knowledgeable and friendly. The venue is accessible and the choice of offerings wide and suited to all tastes, from theatre to music to art, and including authors and celebrities.

Since it opened in September 2001, the Mary Winspear Centre has played host to a plethora of different events from private family functions, business meetings, art exhibits and many a live concert. Noted by many for being a “beautiful” community centre and meeting place, the Mary Winspear Centre is a true bastion of the local, as its general design -- reflective of Sidney -- and information displays attest. For me, it captures the essence of what "community" should be.
When my partner and I visited, we came to see Bob Bruce as "Nearly Neil" in the Charlie White Theatre. It was a fun event because Bruce was doing his special "Nearly Christmas" show where he does a fine and fair mix of Neil Diamond classics with some Christmas tunes tossed in for good measure. Twas the season, after all.
We enjoyed our experience in the Charlie White Theatre. It can comfortably hold up to 310 patrons, all of whom get to sit in red, plush chairs. No hard plastic seats or obstructed views here. The theatre is an intimate space; it is well laid out and easy to navigate. Thus, there really isn't a bad seat in the house, which is a rarity to say when attending live shows.
I've seen "Nearly Neil" a few times before, but this was the first time in over a decade. What made this show particularly memorable for me, besides the loose Christmas theme, was the fact that I'd seen the real Neil Diamond perform in Vancouver barely 5 months earlier. Thus, I had a real basis for comparison and what struck me then was just how GOOD Bob Bruce is as Neil Diamond. He has the look down for a (moderately) younger Diamond but, even more important, his voice was spot on. If you closed your eyes and allowed yourself to get lost in the music you'd swear the real Neil Diamond is performing on stage.
The show was superlative, outstanding and, indeed, an excellent tribute to a music legend. The small venue worked well for "Nearly Neil;" the acoustics played well to his voice and the various musical instruments of his Solitary Band. The crowd ate it up! Bruce sang many of Diamond's hits – from “Forever in Blue Jeans” to “Sweet Caroline” – and, in the spirit of the season, played a few classic Christmas songs as well. Ever the showman, Bruce played to the audience, interacting with us frequently. He even had a rather humorous exchange with a clearly intoxicated audience member ("you sound like you'll like this next song" ["Red Red Wine"]). It was a great show in a solid venue.

Have been to several different performances at the Charlie White Theatre recently as well as an art show. It is a beautiful facility, good acoustics, in the theatre and very community oriented

This is really great community asset, with a number of excellent venues. Charlie White theatre is perfect for all types of intimate events, especially music concerts. I am really impressed with the caliber of talent that plays here when they could command much larger audiences. It is,I think, because they love to play in this theatre. My only gripe with Windspear is that it serves only major foreign owned brand beers. BC has numerous excellent small breweries that could be showcased. If they would correct this, I would give the centre an enthusiastic 5 stars.
