Sinds het festival in 1980 voor het eerst feestelijk werd geopend door de enige echte Ray Charles, verzamelen zich ieder jaar weer duizenden muzikanten en beroepsartiesten uit de hele wereld om hun hart op te halen aan jazzmuziek in het centrum van Montreal. Meer dan twee miljoen muziekliefhebbers kunnen tien dagen lang genieten tijdens 1000 concerten en activiteiten. Tussen de shows door zijn er tal van gerechten om te proeven, van verfijnde gerechten bereid door chef-koks van wereldklasse tot foodtrucks, en kun je heerlijk winkelen. Het is het perfecte evenement waar iedereen van kan genieten met allerlei gezinsvriendelijke shows en activiteiten. Bovendien zijn de meeste shows gratis!

We have been coming to the festival for 12 years always enjoyed everything about Montreal, the festival and the food. This year the music was a disappointment bought the Metlus pass.3nights cancelled
The performances have changed The construction everywhere has made getting around a problem for the past four years.
Will try it again only if schedule of entertainment improves.

My husband and I have come to the Montreal Jazz Festival 15 times since 2002 and have always had a wonderful time.
We are great lovers of jazz and music and drove six hours to get to Montréal in time on Friday, June 30th to see John Scofield perform.
We quickly checked into the Doubletree, walked to the theatre and were sitting in our seats at the wonderfully historical Monument National. Just as the show was about to begin, the fire alarms went off.
Everyone was evacuated from the theatre with no instructions about returning.
When we emailed the theatre to ask about receiving a refund, we were denied. We were
told the concert started 45 minutes later.
No one gave any instructions about returning to see the show. We felt that belied denied a refund was very unfair since there was no information about returning.
We were even willing to compromise and ask if just one ticket could be refunded instead of two. Again, we were told no.
Thankfully, we saw Rodrigo and Gabriella on Saturday and Melanie Gardot on Sunday. Both shows were phenomenal.
However, our experience on Friday night was a bit of a slap in the face to loyal supporters who have only fond memories of 15 trips to the Jazz Fest.
The attitude of the theatre/Jazz Fest was not what we expected from a city that has been so gracious and hospitable in the past.

This is my first time being here. As a pianist I can't ask for more. Truly heaven for a musician. If you are music "foodie" - this event is definitely worth visiting.

I arrived in Montreal on the last day of the Jazz Festival and it wasn’t the reason why I was in Montreal. There were thousands of people in the downtown area, several stages to view performing artists. I am not a jazz fan; however, it was nice to see a festival in the city as festivals generally puts everyone in a good mood.

Après deux ans de pandémie, touristes, québécois et canadiens ont su profiter de ce festival. Un ambiance familiale et amicale étaient aux rendez-vous.
Des groupes musicaux variés et enrichissants ont su donner la joie à cet événement montréalais. La joie est revenu à la métropole.

We were so lucky to visit Montreal during Jazz Fest, and what a wonderful experience. Highly recommend for any music lover to attend this. Music from all over the globe. So interesting.

C'est la première année que le festival de Jazz de Montréal présente un volet spécifique dans les rues de Verdun, le tout tout à fait gratuitement.
Activité festive familiale à voir, sans être dans l'obligation de côtoyer les grandes foules.
Félicitation au festival, et à l'année prochaine.

This is the second visit to the festival in Montreal! My teens were not too thrilled about being there, however the music as always was great! My only feedback is as follows: The outdoor free events are spread out too far (ie- we attended a performance at the “Heineken Place” at 6pm but the next main performance at “TD square” was not until 9:30pm. We decided not too stay as there was too much time in between. Additionally, I would have liked to see more of a variety in their food trucks (ie- healthier/ allergy friendly options). Overall however the ambiance is great and if you love jazz, this is the place to be (we even scored street parking 2 blocks away!).

The entertainment both indoors & outside was superb and crowd control was excellent. The many restaurants offered a wide variety of food choices and their staffs were always both courteous and efficient, notwithstanding the large crowds touring the festival.

Hi Gerald, I’m wondering how we know where the bands play at the jazz festival. We have seen the programme but we are unsure .do we go to one venue and then at the end of that show move to another venue? We would love to message you directly because the jazz festival web site assumes a level of experience that we don’t have.

Hi all, we attended the jazzfest one or two years ago (I forget) and as we were walking to the Quartier, we passed a small indoor venue and saw on the marquee that Bonobo was playing!! We hadn't seen this advertised and I'm not sure he was affiliated officially with the festival. This makes me think that possibly there are other, unaffiliated concerts every year since tbh I can get my fill of jazz rather quickly. Where might I find these concerts I speak of? Thanks so much for any info!

Hi we are going to Jazz fest for the first time this year. Can you tell me the set up for the free concerts? Are they just spread out throughout montreal and old town? Is it easy to stumble upon them if you are just out and about walking around the city?

Hi, Marie. What would you like to know about this attraction?
I'm going for the first time this year could you give me some guidance on the free concerts? Are they just scattered among old town and when your out strolling you just come across them or is there a map? I'm probably getting tickets to at least one venue but I wanted to know the free concert set up. Also is the dinner cruise worth doing or is that something better enjoyed during the day?
Its our 2nd trip to Montreal so we have already seen some sights but we are looking to see the one's we missed such as little Italy and the gardens. Thanks
