I would like to express my great disappointment at my experience with the OSM at the Berlioz concert. Entry was denied on the grounds that the concert was filmed and that no late entry was allowed. However, no clear mention of this restriction appears on their website or in official communications.
This lack of transparency and anticipation, combined with the lack of flexibility in the face of unforeseen events, is unworthy of an institution of this reputation. In addition to the unused tickets, additional costs, including parking, were incurred, making this experience all the more frustrating.
I hope that this opinion will contribute to a reflection on the part of the OSM on the importance of clear communication and better consideration for its spectators. An institution of this size should strive for excellence in customer experience, and I hope that in the future, measures will be put in place to prevent more spectators from experiencing such disappointment.

En ce contexte de pandémie, il y avait si long que nous n'étions pas allé au concert de l'OSM en la Maison Symphonique.
Enfin en ce samedi soir de décembre 2021, moi et ma conjointe aurons pu renouer avec cette activité et pu apprécier les interprétations des pièces de Jean Sibelius et de Piotr Ilitch Tchaïkovski.
Mais il y avait un peu plus à vivre pour nous en ce retour car il nous a permis d'assister à notre premier concert sous la direction du nouveau chef titulaire de l'OSM, Rafael Payare. Ce jeune conducteur ne nous aura pas déçu et tout nous permet de croire qu'il il sera un très digne successeur de l'immense Kent Nagano.
À vous tous qui aimez cette belle musique, la pandémie n'est point terminée mais grand bien nous fasse, notre Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal est toujours bien vivant et prêt à vous enivrer de ses concerts...

Tutti gli appassionati di musica classica conoscono l'Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal, una delle più importanti al mondo. Dal 2006 il direttore musicale è Kent Nagano. L'orchestra nata nel 1934 è formata oggi da 94 musicisti e si esibisce nella bellissima Maison Symphonique de Montreal capace di 2.300 posti. Biglietti da $25 a $155. Vivamente consigliato assistere ad un concerto.

C'est avec beaucoup d'enthousiasme que nous sommes allés voir ce spectacle à la Maison Symphonique. Montréal était la seul ville canadienne ou il se sont arrêtés cette année, après la perte tragique d'une bonne partie de leurs confrères lors d'un écrasement d'avion en 2016.
Le choeur étant composé de 36 voix masculines, nous avons également eu la chance d'entendre plusieurs solo et duos. Les arrangements, la musique et leur prestance sont légendaires. Ils se tiennent bien droit et l'uniforme fait son petit effet.
La première partie est plus folklorique. Il faut entendre les voix A Cappella entamer "Oh, ma vaste steppe" pour constater à quel point ils maitrisent leur art. Un autre moment fort apprécié a été le joueur de balalaïka Mikhaïl Nikiforov interpréter avec virtuosité et humour Kamarinskaïa. Un vrai délice pour la salle!
Après un entracte de 20 minutes, l'ensemble a choisi, pour sa deuxième partie, de nous faire quelques classiques de Noël et autres avec Isabelle Boulay. Nous avons également eu la chance d 'entendre également " Mon pays ". Il aurait été d'à propos de faire participer la salle au moins une fois. Le rythme qui accélère donne toujours envie de frapper dans les mains ... Mais à aucun moment de la soirée nous avons pu laisser libre court à ce plaisir coupable ...
Entendre Les Choeurs de l'Armée Rouge à la Maison Symphonique de Montréal réputée pour son acoustique, permet de savourer chaque seconde de ces voix uniques.

Guarantee of great sound, I am not an audiophile but it does not matter where you sit for a great sound experience. The place was built for sound. Choose wisely for seats since if you are seeing a large concert maybe choose a little higher. Lower loges are no better than central and I prefer to see the entire show. Red Army Choir is my next. Pre pay parking and pre reserve dinner at local places makes things simple.

What a beautiful place for such extraordinary music. Wife and I were here for a piano concerto with the OSM. The entire experience was extraordinary. Starting with the ease of purchasing the tickets online up until the very last note of the 3rd encore, the entire experience was out of this world. Not to mention the accoustics in this hall. The orchestra is able to play the most delicate notes and everyone in the hall will hear clearly. We will definitely be returning. Quite an enjoyable evening!

& Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain;
Montreal debut, Baiba Skride, virtuoso violinist - performance of Mozart’s Violin Concerto no. 3
Nagano & Bartók’s Concerto and Ravel’s La valse.
Under NAGANO - the absolute best was the closing concert: VIVALDI DELERIUM
The composer of the universally famous Four Seasons, presented in an unparalleled variety of instruments and selections of his numerous works to the delight of all who were lucky enough to attend.
Must be experienced ---- lots of free concerts plus a children's musical play and learning area. This year felt like the best ever!!!
Note classical music isn't always accessible by all, but during this weekend in August the concerts are 45 minutes long; costing $22 to $45 plus a large variety of free musical experiences. The event runs from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.
A must for all!!

Quelle chance, notre séjour à Montreal coincidait avec le Festival La Virée Classique ! un vrai Festival consacré à la Musique classique, à l'Opéra, à la beauté... Et la Place des Arts est vibrante de monde et d'animations multiples. En famille, avec 2 pré-ado et un mari peu mélomane, nous avons passé une soirée féerique, avec le programme Soirée à l'Opéra. Parfait pour la découverte des oeuvres, à dose initiation. Et suffisamment qualitatif pour ceux qui aiment vraiment l'Opéra. Très belle prestation de Leslie Ann Bradley et de Mario Bahg, accompagnés par Marie-Eve Scarfone.

If price is not a consideration (the ticket prices are an excellent bargain) where is the best place to sit for an organ concert if one would like to be able to see the organist and also enjoy good sound? Thanks!

We were told that our tickets in the Choir section of the Maison Symphonique could be obstructed but they weren't sure how obstructed they might be. Has anyone sat in these seats before? And if so, how was your experience? Thanks!

Hello Oriel, for sure is the best place to take your brother. Here's the website of the OSM,just google OSM Montreal and you can find there the program and you might have some concert at the same time you are in MTL.
