The bridge is in opering all day long. It opens only when ships have to enter or leave the baarbour.

There is a free ferry that crosses the bay as well. It is within eyesight of the bridge and easily identifiable. People may use this anytime, but is primarily used when the drawbridge is open for boat traffic..I feel that the bridge is safe for wheelchairs, but the ferry would be more difficult for wheelchairs..As the bridge is opened/closed several times daily...one could just wait on the bridge

Hi, Yes it is five minute visit with pictures,but uf you get lucky, it would be great when you are there that a sea vessel needs to pass then you would get to see how the bridge moves to the side to let the vessel pass. We were fortunate to see it, just as we got to the other side of the bridge. If you are on the bridge when vessel needs to pass you would hear a loud horn signalling you something is coming to get across a bit faster.If it happens before you you get on the bridge they put down the barriers so you cannot get onto bridge and you just wait til the sea vessel passes and they resume crossing.

In Willemstad, Curacao, cruise ships tie up at two different locations, both on the other side of the St. Anna Bay. So either way you'll have to cross the pontoon bridge, or when that one is closed (i.e. opened for harbour traffic) you either have a short wait, or If the bridge opens for longer periods of time, you can take the free Haven Dienst ferry. You may also be interested in visiting the Jewish Cultural History Museum or even go for some authentic local cuisine at nearby Plasa Bieu! I can strongly recommend the latter: cheap and tasty food in a very unique atmosphere! Have fun!

The floating pontoon bridge is right in the center of town. Depending on where the ships dock, it is always within a 3 minute walking distance. ( 5 if you are slow). You can't miss it. It is clean, safe and enjoyable. There is a bridge watchers house on the Punda side. Your ship will dock on the Otrabanda side so at the end of the bridge on the left side if you cross the bridge from the side where the cruise ships dock. There you will see from time to time a blue or orange flag, This means that the bridge will open to let a ship in or out. Orange means that it will stay open for 5 - 10 minutes and blue will take longer. If the orange flag is out, you can stay on the bridge when it floats open. Its a pleasant ride and when it closes, you get of the bridge again. My kids loved this. What else to do in Curacao??? Musts are: 1. Mikve Israel - Emanuel Synagogue dating back to 1732 2. Take a taxi to Fort Nasseau from where you have a magnificent 360 degree few of the harbor and town. 3. Take a walk through Hotel Kura Hulanda and see the restored historical buildings. 4. Eat typical local food, sharing a table with the local people at the local market place. This is unique because of the food but more because of the friendly people. 5. Sit 3 meters from the harbor entrance and have a nice drink while seeing the ships come in. 6. Take a picture with the iguanas (in town) 7. Smile with us. This is one friendly island.

I'm not familiar with that particular ship, I don't do cruises but the main and I believe only, cruise ship dock is walking distance from the bridge. Unfortunately the bridge is currently close until repairs are done and they haven't started yet.
