Chris and crew far exceeded all of my expectations, from the impressive catches of Sailfish, Mahi, and Marlin to food riveling a five-star restaurant. The onboard lunch of fresh Mahi Ceviche was the best; I can't imagine anything better!

Muchas Gracias to Captain Chris and all of his staff. It was a wonderful experience. The fishing was great by my standards. 7 Sailfish, and I think 3 Dorado the first day, and 5 or 6 Sails and a couple Dodos the next day. Enough to wear me out. The food is definitely first class. Both on the boat, and at the Lodge. All inclusive means what it is. There were no surprise extras at the end. The Lodge was immaculate. What else can I say? Wonderful country, people, history. Thanks again Blue Bayou for a great experience.

If you want to fish with people as excited about fishing as you are, then this is where you want to go. Capt. Chris Starrs, the Crew of the Sales Pitch, and the staff at Blue Bayou will certainly make you feel welcome and right at home. We fished the Sales Pitch with Capt. Weecho and Jose. Their professionalism and dedication were clearly evident from day one through day five. I can't forget to mention great service from mates Emerson, Douglas, and Chente. The food at the Lodge was excellent as were the meals prepared on the boat. Many thanks to Marisol, Tanya, and Frank. On the boat "Marlin Fever" was rampant. When a marlin was spotted, everyone goes to battle stations. We released 2 marlin, one about 400 pounds, and 17 sails in five days. We ate Dorado and yellow fin right on the boat. Overall we had the time of our lives. We felt like we were fishing with old friends by the end of our stay. Many thanks to all involved.

Guatemala is the hottest, most productive billfishing location in the world, and if you want to do it right, set up a charter with Blue Bayou. Whether you fish with traditional gear or fly fish. That's right, you can fly fish for marlin, sailfish, tuna and dorado. Blue Bayou knows how it's done, and you don't have to worry about equipment. They supply it all. Just show up, and later leave for home with a stupid grin on your face.
Typically, the Blue Bayou boats travel out to their honey hole 18 miles off the coast. On my trip, the bite was slow. So there was a change of plan and they made a 50 mile run to chase fish so I could achieve my dream. And we did. That's the kind of outfit this is - first rate and willing to go to extremes to deliver.
You'll stay in a first rate lodge on a canal, equipped with air conditioning, a swimming pool, and a thatched lanai with bar where you can rehash the day over rum or beer with friends. Everything is taken care of from fine meals and maid service, to ground transportation. I cannot recommend them too highly enough. If you are looking for the fishing trip of a lifetime, this is the place to go.

visited Captain Chris and in two half days of fishing we caught 10 sailfish, 6 large mahis, and raised 3 blue marlins. The lodge is really a great condo with swiming pool, and great food--You are going to be comfortable between fishing trips--the food is wonderful, but the fishing is even better. Great Captain and his crew is top notch. If you want to catch big fish, and relax in great accommodations, this is the place--we only went out for two half days (we're old) but caught 10 sailfish and 6 large mahis and raised 3 blue marlin. Another selling point is that Guatemala sport fishing regulations prohibit killing bill fish--plenty of time to get a good picture, and the fish live to fight another day. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

We had a great time with Chris Starrs and his crew. We landed a lot of sailfish, some Dorados, and even a Bonito. Chris and his crews are very skilled in maneuvering the boat, and handling the rigging while we bring in fish. The lodge is very relaxing after a day out on the water, and the meals are delicious. Make sure that you try out the delicious Guatemalan coffee too!
The monastery in Antigua is a must see, and has excellent breakfast offerings.

Capt. Chris was an great host and even better fisherman. We fished three full days landing over 30 sails and raising over 40. We raised one black marlin but it just wouldn't bite. We were also lucky enough to catch a dozen yellowfins which made for great meals.
The lodge was excellent, the staff was courteous and helpful, the food was terrific and beer was always cold. This is a destination I plan on returning to soon. I cant say enough about how great this entire experience was.

We fished with Chris in early June. My wife and son went along and we fished for 3 days. Stayed at the lodge for 4 days and in Antigua for One night. What a great time we had. Tough fishing the fist day but once we found good water it was great. We caught so many sailfish and mahis by the last day. Chris was a great host and Danny and Vinny were helpful and friendly. I have fished Central America before and this is a place I may return too. My family loved every minute of this trip. Big ups to my boy Chris!!!!

My father and I went to Guatemala for 7 days from April 30th to May 7th. We had worked with Lodge owner Captain Chris Starrs for the booking and he was responsive to every inquiry. Now I'll break down my review below:
Fishing:
The fishing of Iztapa is quite simply insane. Packed with Pacific Sailfish, Dorado and Marlin, our trip was near non-stop action. In four days our boat totaled 79 sails, 24 dorados and 1 blue marlin. Mind you the blue was caught 5 minutes into targeting and my first lifetime! In addition to being a knowledgeable and hardworking captain, Chris employs mates who I would rank as the best I've ever seen. In addition to their great fishing assistance, they made ceviche and lunch on the boat! They were extremely knowledgeable and nice as well. I've taken charters in 3 countries across both the Atlantic and Pacific and this was amazing. If you like saltwater fishing you must go.
Service Accommodation:
The food was spectacular and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was stuffed and happy from every meal and the local beer, Gallo, flowed like wine! Laundry service and cleaning everyday. Simply wonderful. World class fishing lodge!
In summary, this was the best fishing trip I ever had. Any angler worth his salt deserves a trip of this level and Capt. Chris and team run a wonderful company. Take it from me, they are the best outfit in Guatemala! Book now!

Are all the trips multi-day or can you fish for just one day?

Email is probably the best way to contact Chris Starrs, to answer any of your questions, or to set up your fishing charter. I would also recommend that you look at fishing trends in that area, so that you go during a better time for catching fish. We went in February, which is one of the best times to catch sailfish.
