I did the Rescuer for a Day and it was fantastic! Very informative and hands-on. I gained a new appreciation for the seals and all the people that work so hard to keep them safe.

I have adopted a few seals here over the years and supported them whenever I can, we finally went to see the Rescue centre and it was very informative and great to see.

This is a working seal rescue centre and is not a tourist attraction or a zoo type experience. In saying that it is very interesting and informative. You do get to see the seals but you do not get too close to them as they need to be released back to the wild. Great experience and wonderful work being done here. It is clear money is used just for the seals not a fancy visitor experience.

We arrived at the rescue without a booking, but the staff were lovely and accommodating.
We opted for the guided tour, which included an educational segment at the start. This was really informative and engaging for both adults and children. While shown different images and talked through all the different factors that impact seals, there was also a live cam showing the little guy they had in ICU, which made it even more interesting.
We were then taken outside and shown the little hospital where the food and medication were prepared. Then, the units where the babies are kept. They were very entertaining and adorable. We were shown the babies who had progressed to the rehabilitation pool, and it was great to watch them learn and play. It all was very informative and lovely to see.
We then went back into the reception area where you have the option if you like to purchase merchandise and adopt a seal. We decided to adopt, and Bubblegum is now an honorary member of our household 😊

Highly recommend Seal Rescue Ireland as a visit with your family. Our guide was very knowledgeable and wasn't rushed at all. We learned a lot about seals and all the conservation work Seal Rescue do in Ireland!

Nice centre and informative talk before going outside to look at the seals in care. However, we were disappointed not to be shown any seal pups. No explanation was given for this, just an apology and that was it. We were shown three older seals, all close to release day which was nice but the tour detail explains visitors will have the opportunity to see seal pups. Wasn't the case. Apparently there were 18 seals in care to only see 3 was disappointing. White curtains were pulled across in front of the cubicles where they supposedly were and we were instructed not to speak to them like babies. Didn't understand that when we weren't shown them. Disappointing visit all in all.

We took the 1 hour €30 seal feeding and enrichment tour which allowed us to learn more about seals in Ireland and the incredible work of the volunteers. We were also able to help feed 4 adorable seals in the pools, it was really cool. The volunteer team is adorable and educational. Young or old, it's a great activity that allows support for this association.

We had an amazing and eye opening experience as rescuers for a day. Lauren in education was amazing at giving us a crash course in all the major issues affecting the seal population of Ireland as well as things we can do to reduce our impact globally. Loved the science and ecology lessons and presented in a very easy to understand format. The hands on part was simply amazing. We worked with Emily who was super patient teaching us how they take care of the seals. So much goes into caring for these seals and the folks at SRI have an unbelievably hard yet rewarding work. From breaking apart the fish to scrubbing the pools, they meticulously care for these seals. We were grateful to be included in this experience and look forward to returning. Thank you for all the amazing work you do!!

Wonderful place! Lovely young volunteers showed us around. The baby seals are adorable. I’m so glad I got to visit. Beautiful town especially this time of year.

Our apologies eirgirl we missed your question! :(
Sadly no we do not allow dogs into the centre as it causes distress to the recovering pup seals in the hospital.
We do however have a little area out the front of the centre where your pooch can stay safely and we provide drinking water for dogs.
We hope you will still come to visit! :)
