This feels like throwing another 5-star review on the pile, but as of June 2023 Mike is still doing an incredible job. Breadth of knowledge, depth of knowledge, ability to contextualize and, of course, an obvious love for the subject matter… Just a world-class tour.

Absolutely outstanding tour! Mike was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the stories that enhanced the facts. We would definitely recommend this tour. (Several children were on the tour with us, and they were totally engaged, as well!) Definitely book this tour!

Der Reiseleiter Mike weiss enorm viel, brennt für das Thema und möchte dieses Wissen den Teilnehmern auch vermitteln. Die Zeit dafür ist limitiert und daher spricht er für nicht Muttersprachler zu schnell, insbesondere, wenn man in der frühen amerikanischen Geschichte nicht so zu Hause ist.

The translation I have for this is that for non-native English speakers I'm speaking too fast. There is probably some truth to this but in this instance I was asked to speak slowly before we even started which I cannot do without impairing the experience of the other guests. There is of course a full refund in this situation. The tour itself is a product of my own international travels and is meant to provide insights into American history and culture. The narrative structure is meant to help people connect and understand things easier but a certain amount of fluency is required. Thank-you for the feedback though I am working on providing the experience in different languages.

I really could just write this: Mike engaged and entertained my 15 year old son who doesn't care about history. Both my teenaged boys loved it! It was interesting and funny and helped tie together so many random events floating in your mind. We came away with an appreciation for Boston as a city as well as deeper knowledge of American history. Would do it again!

A great primer on the events that unfolded in and around Boston that led to the birth of our nation. Liked that it was organized in chronological order and crafted to tell a story. Tour guide Mike was very knowledgeable. The tour moves fast, despite its length. Would have liked to have had the chance to enter more of the historic buildings though. This tour only passes by them - with the exception of Faneuil Hall.

Mike was very informative interesting. I have my Masters in History, as well, and although I prefer European History it was filled with information either I didn’t know or didn’t know enough of. His energy and passion is spot on and not gimmicky . Thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and time Mike!

Mike is passionate about using the city of Boston to tell the story of the revolution, and he did it all while remaining energetic and politically balanced. He was super knowledgeable and the tour was packed not only with fascinating facts, but with the greater story in mind. As a history teacher, I particularly loved the narrative nature of the tour as Mike led us through a web of characters and events, with a particular emphasis on cause and effect. My husband, our 12 year old daughter, and I all agreed it was fantastic; it was one of the best things we did in Boston, which is saying a lot, especially as we had unusually cold and wet weather. We would do this again in a heartbeat!

Excellent tour - Mike is a true historian (has earned a Master's degree) who does an amazing job of creating a coherent story and timeline that makes the three hours fly by. He assigns historical characters to group members, which also makes it engaging and has great visual aides. Our 19 year old son who is autistic and sometimes doesn't like walking much never complained once and gave the whole experience an enthusiastic two thumbs up. He was excited to be assigned Benjamin Franklin since his name is also Ben. Highly recommend doing this when you first arrive in Boston because it really helps you learn your way around the city, he provides great restaurant recommendations, and then you have a good grounding in the history and can build on it. We visited Bunker Hill and the Minute Man Center (outside of Boston) the next day and it was great having the background Mike provided.

About 2 miles. If it's a beautiful sunny day, you could walk it. We walked all over downtown and never felt unsafe. But we didn't walk late afternoon or evening. We used Uber when we had to.

What sites on the Freedom Trail are NOT covered? Your only available tour time (for us) is on our LAST day in Boston, and we want to cover any sites not included, and go inside building not covered on the tour. What do you recommend?

Mike the tour guide had us meet in front Staple Connect Building and the City Hall building. I believe it’s about less than 2 miles? You could take an Uber to get over there to give yourself time to use the restroom & grab a coffee plus save your legs for the rest of the walking tour( it’s a lot of walking but well worth it).

I did this tour on Saturday, July 2,2022. We started at 9:15am (seems like that is a pretty consistent start time for all of his tours). The tour lasted until almost 1pm. It was fantastic! Mike really knows his stuff and keeps the pace easy enough for my 76 year old mother to keep up! I highly recommend it!
I am a slow walker and take a lot of breaks to sit and rest. Will this tour be too difficult for me? How about bathroom breaks?

The pace might be too much for you considering your concerns. One break halfway through with no other options along the route. This may not be the tour for you.
