The tour guide, Helena was very informative. Helena enjoys her work and this shows in every step of the tour from talks on Fort Canning Hill to the actual battlebox bunker tour.

We did the 3 hour tour with Nancy around the grounds and then into the Battlebox bunker! It’s a MUST for all to learn about the country. So glad we did it! Learned a great deal

Our guide was lovely Helena. She is a wealth of knowledge, remembers every detail and answered all our questions. Helena also has a great SOH which made us laugh along the way. We highly recommend this tour.

For a truly unique, informative and historical experience in the heart of Singapore's Fort Canning Park, you can't go past a visit to the Battle Box.
A call ahead suggested we rock up mid morning to make the most of the experience without the crowds. We did and happily found a desk full of smiling welcoming staff. Chris was our superlative guide, introducing us to the background and purpose of this vast underground shelter that was the notable base for Singapore's brief and devastating World War 2 campaign.
He walked and talked us through several significant rooms maintaining a commentary that was both engaging, interesting, and witty yet simultaneously respectful. After suitably escorting us through the details of Singapore's expedited surrender to the invading Japanese, Chris then left us to explore the entire facility at leisure. Easy to do thanks to a handy map supplied plus informative videos and displays throughout.
Chris's attentiveness, easy humour and impressive knowledge earns five stars alone. The air-conditioned accessibility of this museum makes it a great way to spend a few hours out of the humidity, a luxury the 500 military men definitely did not have back in the day. It's the historic significance of this site, it's excellent preservation and superlative presentation however that make the Battle Box a highly recommended place to visit, historical lover or not. And despite the gravity of its purpose, none of us found it overtly oppressive or depressing like some war museums can be.
Afterwards, take a stroll through the park itself. Stunning.

The guide was really good and gave us a lot of knowledge of Singapore and the history, before and after WWII.
Fort Canning and the Battlebox are well worth visiting and having a guided tour, allows you to see the highlights.
We had a large group of people, so took a little longer than the 2 hours.
the only recommendation would be to advise everyone the tour will start at the office, as it's not too well sign-posted, depending on which entrance you come in.

Helena was an excellent guide and told us a lot about the history of Fort Canning before WW2. She showed us the spice gardens and talked about how the gardens and fort had been used over the years. The battle box part was fantastic and you got to see where the action took place before and after the fall of Singapore. A must do when visiting Singapore.

This is a must if you are into history. Brilliant experience going around the battlebox and lots of interesting information as you move around. Even if you are not into history its well worth going to see. Highly recommend this.

Helena was an amazing tour guide. Her knowledge of Fort Canning and its history was endless. She kept her audience captivated with her stories and encouraged participation. The bunker museum was a highlight of the tour for us.
Our only negative was that we got lost trying to find the visitors centre as we entered from the Fort Canning MRT section, not enough signage for clear direction.

Helena provided an enjoyable experience - interesting stories and nicely paced history to help the group really grasp the incredible history and events that have happened all in one location. Battlebox is extremely well presented, plus a lovely cool escape from the heat.

Can a person with back injuries be able to walk this tour easily as I am very interested in it.

It depends on the extent of the back injuries. It is a 2 1/2 hour walking tour with gentle hills and stairs. There are opportunities to stop and rest, but limited seats. They go at a slow enough pace that a 57 year old unfit person could easily keep up, but if you have mobility issues you will struggle. If you are concerned, have a look at the terrain before the tour. You don't need to book, so can opt out if it looks too difficult.
