Awesome experience. Very early pickup from hotel (1:45am) Engaging staff with lots of information and humor. Would suggest providing some water and snacks for such a long day. I did this same tour 40 years ago!Routes were better then!

The guides made this tour top notch, as well as the great bikes and rain gear provided that I put on for the much needed final layer as protection from the wind. Marlon’s on time pick up (and welcoming ways) & orientation was much appreciated. After the beautiful sunrise, Russell’s bike tour was a blast! His knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural wonders was a great complement to Marlon’s history education. There’s something extra special about these people who make their jobs seem enjoyable and the whole experience was top notch, thanks to our guides.

This "tour" is more of an experience than a bike tour. First of all, the tour guides were great! They had, and shared much knowledge of the Hawaiian culture and history. They also were very explicit with safety orientation for the bike ride. That said, the bike ride is less of a tour down the volcano and more of an experience of speeding down switchbacks on an unfamiliar mountain bike. I have been a bike rider my entire life, and was looking forward to an enjoyable cruise down this scenic volcano. Well, I probably should have known better but the description of this ride is a bit misleading. There is a section of the ride that you are no longer able to take due to a local ordinance. So to make up for this, they load you back up in the vans and take you on a repeat of the same section the you just road down (this time you are a bit more confident with speeding around the switchbacks). Although the overall experience was made enjoyable by the tour guides and the group that I was with, (and nobody was injured!) I would have a hard time recommending this to my loved ones for fear of a crash or what our guides termed a "Maui owie"

What a great experience! This has been on my bucket list ever since I started coming to Maui years ago. The entire team works really well together and communicates everything, ensuring everyone's safety and comfort level. I loved Eddie Buddy and Russell, they were some of the best guides I have ever had. They know so much about the local Maui culture and lore, you will learn a lot from them. They go out of their way to ensure you have an epic time while staying safe, and making you laugh the entire journey. When I got to the top of Mt Haleakala and listened to the men singing a traditional Hawaiian chant, I was moved to tears. This is a truly rewarding experience and I highly recommend it!

We had such an incredible time. The company made pickup at our hotel clear and easy. Our guides were incredibly knowledgeable about the island, Haleakala, and anything you wanted to know! The sunrise view was unmatched. Beautifully clear and inspiring. Highly recommend dressing in layers - it gets chilly up there. Biking down the volcano was incredible. While we absolutely love biking, there were many people with less biking experience. Our guides did an incredible job making sure everyone was safe and comfortable (makes things a little slower going, but worth it for everyone to get to experience the ride safely). I'd recommend brining a banana or some snacks for the way, as the breakfast/lunch was closer to 11:30am (after a 2am pickup)

Arturo, Kalei, and Rory were several of our tour guides. Rory was so informative of the Hawaiian culture and history of the island on our way up and down for the beginning/sunrise portion of our trip. He took the time to take unique photos of the couples riding with him.
Arturo and kalei kept us safe on the way down from other cars and motorized vehicles passing us. I felt very comfortable with them. One rode in front of us on the bike and one was in a vehicle behind us keeping an eye on us at all times. They also went a little further for their riders to take special pictures with beautiful back drops including the “heart of Maui.” Love hearing their knowledge of the island as well. Super nice and respectful gentlemen. Would highly recommend a guided tour as opposed to not. The experience os just so much better!!

My husband, 2 older sons, and myself had an AMAZING time doing the guided tour. Our initial guide, Rory, gave us all the history of Maui on our way up the mountain. Once we saw the sunrise, he took pictures for us, answered questions and was so friendly and welcoming. Russell then took over and guided us on bikes down the mountain. He was charismatic and funny, but also made us feel safe and comfortable on the ride. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour and this company! I did a lot of research prior to our trip and am patting myself on the back for choosing the absolute best. Thank you, Bike Maui! Y’all are awesome 😎

We had a fantastic experience. We are a party of 3 (66, 68, 72 years of age). However, we are all very physically active including regular bike riding. This is not for the faint of heart or novice bike riders. Even with our experience and good conditioning we chose the guided tour. Good choice, as there is a vehicle in front and behind the group of about 8 riders, allowing us to ride in the middle of the lane and not worry about cars passing by us. The tour operators did a commendable job of safety preparation, provided all necessary equipment, and the guide on the lead bike was informative, funny, personable. The views of the sunset were like nothing we had ever seen. Amazing! It was chilly on the top. The views and the feelings of wonder gliding down the mountain: unforgettable. Several stops along the way broke up the 24 mile ride and allowed for water breaks and for our guide to share information about the volcano and Maui history. Stopped for an incredible lunch at Freshies in Makawao in the Upcountry. This is a cool town where we stopped for lunch before completing the ride back to the bike shop. Five stars for sure!!!

We had a great experience and loved all of the drivers and guides. It was our favorite part of the vacation. The brunch stop was an unexpected bonus. Marlon and Drew were the best….knowledgeable and entertaining. Mahalo guys!

In the guided tour, do you stop for breakfast?
Since we are staying at an Airbnb and not a hotel where would we meet the shuttle ?

You can call them and tell them where you are staying, and they'll arrange for pickup. We stayed at an Airbnb in a condo complex in Waimea. They had a pickup for that complex. We just had to walk a block or two to the pickup point. Other people on our shuttle were staying in condos in Kihei and were picked up there. BTW you are picked up at something like 2am, so it's a great thing to do just after you arrive in Maui from the U.S. Mainland.
