From the first email asking details of the “fly, hike, cruise, fly” excursion to the end of our flight with Milford Scenic Flights, their communications were clear, timely and friendly with smiles throughout. The whole crew from desk clerks to drivers to pilots to hiking guides and boat captain were so well organized, making us feel safe and informed all day. They all took such good care of us and gave us such amazing facts of the area. They were right on schedule from the pick up at our hotel to when we flew out and returned. They said “8 AM to 4:30 PM” and they were right on the dot. The 13 km return hike from Sandfly Point to Giant Gate Falls was a little brisk - as they kept to a tight schedule - not giving us much time to savor the scenery as much as we would have liked so if you want a leisurely hike, this is not for you. Nevertheless, our hiking guide Rohann was very knowledgeable in the flora and fauna of the area, and the tea at the falls was just so very special! the hike made this trip memorable and the cruise and hearty lunches they had meticulously prepared for us was the perfect way to relax after such a long hike. Seeing Milford Sound from the air doesn’t even come close to how we see it from the cruise. So we are so glad we flew with Milford Scenic Flights.

Flew there and back in light aircraft with each passenger having window seat which was great and amazing views over the mountains. Then went on 2 hour cruise with mitre cruises which was fantastic and was lucky to see dolphins and seals on the trip. A thoroughly enjoyable day and fully recommend it to everyone.

We left our car in te anau parking and enjoyed every stop on the way till the milford sound. we were fortunate to hear all the info from our guide, and we also got last minute tickets to the helicopter ride N land on the snow up high. nature is at its prime there, but with the help of the qualified guide it is even nicer

We really enjoyed our day from the flight to the Milford Sound Trek to the cruises. Simon, our pilot, took us over the mountains and we saw several glaciers and the valleys and mountains were awesome.
The Milford Sound trek is a 3 mile in and 3 out hike. The trail is fairly smooth but it is not a leisurely stroll as you have time frames to meet to get back to the water taxi for the cruise. The trek was so worth it! The beautiful waterfall at the turnaround site was remarkable. Remember your water and insect repellent as the sand flies are ruthless!
The cruise on Milford Sound was nice and was a great break after the trek. The sea lions were the only animals we saw but the waterfalls along the way were awesome.
Definitely worth the money as driving takes way to long.

The Walk on the Milford Sound Track along with the Boat Cruise in Milford Sound give two remarkable vantage points to experience Milford Sound in all of its glory. We took flight from Queenstown to Milford Sound on a single engine plane. After reaching Milford Sound we took a short boat ride to a walking trail. The trail is absolutely beautiful and it’s about 5 Kilometers each way. After this we were served with lunch boxes and then we rode on a boat. It was such a beautiful ride which is hard to describe. Anyway, without Milford Sound tour your sightseeing trip would not be complete!
P.S. don’t forget to bring the insect repellent since there are tons of sand flies.

We did the Milford Flights Fly Walk Cruise Fly. The entire experience was extremely well organized. We organized our trip to NZ around this experience and understood that there could be cancellations due to weather. Milford Flights staff kept us updated and we were able to fly to Milford a few days after our original planned flight. The flight was amazing and the walk was great because of our tour guide, Mark. We walked for about 1 hour at a healthy clip to view a beautiful waterfall and stopped for about 30 minutes, then walked back. The cruise was wonderful too, we saw dolphins and seals. On the way back, we flew a different way and had amazing views. It was a packed day and a great experience overall.

Recently wrapped up our Fly, Walk, Cruise, Fly tour with Milford Scenic Flights, and it was a day planned to perfection. The company arranged for pick up from our hotel at 7am, brief check-in at their location, and the flight departed from Queenstown at 8am. Reached Milford Sound after about a 45-minute flight, flying over the Southern Alps was simply amazing with breathtaking views. There we boarded a quick water taxi to take us to the starting point for our 11km trek (roundtrip) into the Milford Track. The trek was excellent with plenty of shade through the rainforest-like setting, which ended at the Giant Gate waterfall. Trek is pretty flat on gravel, we were comfortably able to do it with our children (11 and 9 years). The water taxi picked us up at the drop-off point and took us to the point where we were to board the 2-hour cruise ship. They provided packed lunch here before boarding, which was plenty (sandwich, chocolate, cookies, fruits, nuts, chips, and water). The cruise through Millford Sound was fantastic, amazing views! Unfortunately we didn't get to dolphins, but they said this was rare. After the cruise, we were picked up by the pilot, back on the flight to Queenstown, and finally dropped off at our hotel by 5:30pm.
It's a long day, but they pack in a lot and plan it very professionally. Definitely recommend this option as opposed to taking a shuttle from Queenstown which takes all day and can get very tiring. Of course, this comes at a price, but it was totally worth it for us!

One of the most anticipated activities of our trip was to go to Milford Sound, and this trip did not disappoint! The Pilot, hiking guides, cruise staff . . all were exceptional. The scenery is every bit as beautiful as the pictures, if not more. We did get to see some seals up close on the cruise and the hiking guides were full of information about the area. The highlight for us was my husband got to sit on the co-pilots seat on the flight back. He is an aviation nut, and getting to see and hear some of the inter workings of a small aircraft in flight is something he will never forget.
Please note - there are a LOT of cancellations on these tours. The weather may be perfect in Queenstown, but too rainy/cloudy/etc for flying. Our flight was rescheduled a couple of times, so book early in your stay and have some back up activities planned . It's all about Safety, so please keep that in mind, and have some patience if you get cancelled.
My only negative comment is that the timing of pick up wasn't clear to me, nor the other group staying in the same hotel. I called at 7 for the weather check and they told me we were going, and that pickups began in 10-15 minutes. My paperwork said 8. Luckily, I had everything packed the night before (including breakfast bars). I got dressed, brushed my teeth, and ran to the lobby in hopes of stalling the driver so that my husband could get his medications ready. The other party of 3 arrived just a few minutes before my husband, so there was some level of misunderstanding about pick up time. It may have been communicated at some point, but with all of the re-scheduling, 2 different parties were caught off guard by a much earlier pickup time. I would just double/triple check as a precaution.
Despite the slight miscommunication, I would HIGHLY recommend this company. Safety is their #1 priority, and they do a fantastic job.

I am very interested in this excursion but I am only scheduled to be in Queenstown Tue PM thru Thu AM, and would book this outing for Wed. I do not want to miss Milford Sound if there is bad weather. In case of weather, can there be a bus option w/ partial refund or is it all or nothing?

I think some companies have the option of canceling with no charge before 24hrs from departure time, some don't offer a refund at all. You can check with the tour company and their terms before booking.

We are only in Queenstown for 3 days--I was going to book for 1/15/19 and if bad weather would have 1/16/19 to change to. If both days are bad weather I want to know if I get 100% back? Additionally I want to ensure that if flight is cancelled that we wouldn't be forced to do coach/bus instead and we would receive our money back. I would also like the name/website of tour company doing. Thanks
