Really enjoyed our trip! Our tour guide Ibrahim was amazing- so funny helpful and provided so much interesting information. We had a perfect amount of time in each place and everywhere felt like a fairytale! Everyone we spoke to was friendly & it was a wonderful day. The bus was comfortable, had AC and a toilet. Definitely recommend this day trip to all Amsterdam visitors!

This was a fantastic tour with Cherry. We stopped for lunch at a nice little cafe right outside of Giethoorn which was very nice. Giethoorn itself is wonderful. We cruised the canals and had time to shop and grab something to drink. So quaint and peaceful.
At Zaanse Schans we enjoyed the demonstration of the making of the wooden shoes....so very interesting. We also attended the short talk on cheese making.
The old windmills were amazing! So good to see them up close....a bit of history that we could only enjoy previously in our geography books.
It was a long tour (all day) and a long bus trip but DEFINITELY worth it.

Our guide Ibrahim was fabulous! Funny, very knowledgeable, spoke excellent English. He tried to taylor the excursion to our group. Sadly the tulips were all but gone but he found a small field and we got a picture. Even though it was raining we had a very nice excursion and would recommend this to anyone.

There were certainly pluses and minuses with this trip. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. As he outlined the trip, we would have a half hour bus ride to our first stop and after we finished there, would have an hour and a half ride to our next stop. The guide shared a good bit of information while we were traveling around on the bus. At each destination, the local guides provided the vast majority of information.
We really enjoyed our first stop, Zaanse Schans, and were grateful to get there early in the day. It became quite crowded by the time we were ready to leave. For us, one of the highlights of this stop was the Wooden Shoe museum tour. Learning the history and functionality of wooden shoes was fascinating. This is also where we had our first challenge. The tour was to the “windmills” but admission was NOT included. The two “tours” (wooden shoe museum and cheese factory) we both free to all guests because they ended in the gift shops. If you wanted to go through any of the windmills at this stop YOU had to pay an additional charge.
The second disappointment happened when we returned to the bus. At that point our guide informed us we would be returning to Amsterdam to “pick-up” an additional 20 guests. This was an hour of bus time added to our tour for no reason than for the convenience of the tour operator. I don’t know how frequently this occurs but was certainly not shared in the tour description or when we started the tour. In addition, our “free time for lunch” was pushed back until after 2:00 pm.
Giethoorn was a unique destination with a very interesting history. The boat ride through the canals and the lake was worth the hour and a half journey out from Amsterdam. Geithoorn was very crowded during our visit but that is what it is. We found a lot of variety in restaurants and really enjoyed our choice (no food was included in the tour even though this trip went for 11 hours). We did receive one complimentary bottle of water per person.
Final disappointment, the guide told everyone to be back at the bus at a specific time. One group did not oblige and the guide was apologetic but said there was nothing we could do but wait on them. They showed up approximately 20 minutes past the stated departure time. We could have used that extra time to explore more of Giethoorn or visit some of the shops. Had this been the only hiccup, I probably wouldn’t have cared but since the whole day went significantly longer than stated, and we had a lot more “wasted time” than anticipated, I was not amused.
The tour ended at a different drop-off point than the pick-up point so if you have any mobility issues, be aware that you may not end up where you started.

It was still a little chilly the end of April. It rained and hailed while we were touring in our little boat. The flowers weren't blooming around the homes but it was still a neat place to experience. I think I would not go in a group next time. It would have been nice to go at my own pace.
I also went to Keukenhof to see the flowers and that was lovely!

Such a wonderful little village. Still chilly at the end of April. A little rain and Hail while in the little boat tour.No flowers yet to see which seemed odd since the flowers at the flower gardens and field la are in full bloom

Ibrahim our guide was awesome. He knew quite a bit about the tour locations and was great at explanations. Definitely some great locations that everyone will see and hopefully you get our same guide.

Hello, is the boat tour self-drive or guided? I plan to go in early February, is the weather suitable for boat tour? Thanks

Hi :) The tour we ordered via Tripadviser included a guided tour on a boat. After the guided tour you will have some time on your own to explore the village. So, you can rent a small boat and try to row through many other crashing boats :) You do not need to have a ‘driving license’ to row the boats. Have a nice trip!

Hi! I plan to go on this tour with my mom. She can walk well enough, but gets tired easily. Can we take a folding travel wheelchair with us in case she gets tired?
Thanks!

Probably but ask about it when you make your reservation. I wish I'd had a transport chair on my visit it would have been more enjoyable. If you are assigned to Saeed he uses a van that seats 6 in the back. It did have a " trunk space" just not sure how large.
I hope it works out for you, it is a long day trip and so much beautiful area to see. There is a trip on one of the canals too. She will need to have assistance to board and disembark the boat. It's all sitting once she is onboard. Have fun. A true memory awaits.
Bonjour, j'aimerais savoir si le déjeuner est inclut pour cette activité? Merci bonne journée!

Hello! I am thinking of doing this tour end of December. What is Giethoorn normally like around this time? Is the town/are the lakes typically accessible? I’m not sure whether this tour will be worth doing so deep in the winter
Thanks!
