Rond 11.30 uur ga je naar Chartwell House om de kamers te verkennen en het huis te zien zoals het was toen de familie Churchill hier woonde. Tijdens het bezoek is er de mogelijkheid om schatten en memorabilia van over de hele wereld te zien die werden geschonken aan de leider van de vrije wereld. Chartwell House heeft een mooi café / restaurant dat niet bij de prijs is inbegrepen, maar de kans om een cream tea en scone te ervaren moet niet over het hoofd worden gezien of misschien is een bezoek aan Churchills Art Studio met tientallen van zijn schilderijen beter als u let op je figuur. Pick up at hotel and return. 80 acre estate of Chartwell beautiful. Richard had many fascinating things to point out as we went through the rooms of the house featuring not only being maintained as they were, but a number of awards he received, uniforms he wore, etc, and the separate studio with many of Churchill's paintings. Bottom floor has a collection of 50 curios from various eras of his life from childhood to 2nd run as pm. A look at the brick wall he layed himself, the way he arranged his extensive garden, and a number of benches donated for the garden by people wanting to honour him. There is a gift shop and cafe by the parking lot.

This private tour provided exactly what was advertised. Richard, our guide, was very knowledgeable about Churchill and the grounds. Richard, a friendly, well-read gentleman, picked us up at our hotel and drove us to Chartwell in a comfortable sedan. Besides providing the transportation, he gave us the history of the towns we drove through. Upon arrival at Chartwell we had a chance to grab a cup of coffee / tea and wait briefly for our timed queue. In that time we toured the Gardens (saw the black swans that were brought here) and then started the tour through the house. Richard walked us through the residence explaining the rooms and exhibitions within.
The house, maintained by the National Trust, is as it was when the Churchills lived there. As was told to me years before I went, " you feel as if Winston Churchill just left the room."
Well worth it for the quality of a private tour, the tour guide and the transportation (which is through some narrow country roads). The tour was 6 hours from pick up to drop off back at the hotel. We really appreciated Richard's attention to detail.

Sometimes the journey there is half the fun as the countryside and views are wonderful between London and Chartwell itself. I’m sure Churchill himself liked the fact that he could be so close to Westminster and yet feel in the middle of the countryside.
Richard is a bit of a treasure himself and he loves going to Chartwell.

We recently took the private tour to Chartwell with Kevin and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Kevin is such a knowledgeable and caring guide. It was a joy to tour with him. He is a history buff and has so much information to share. In the rare case that he does not know what you ask, he will make sure to find the answer. It was such an inspiring experience to visit Churchill's family estate. Touring the house is a wonderful opportunity to get a glimpse into the private life of this man who led his country through the dark days of World War II. Visiting Chartwell also gives you the opportunity to see most of Winston Churchill's art work. He was quite an accomplished artist and his studio is preserved and is a great setting for his art. The grounds are lovely as well. I highly recommend this tour with Kevin and Ye Olde England Tours. It was truly the highlight of our trip to London.

Thanks for your fabulous review Carla. I'm really glad that you enjoyed your tour to Chartwell. It is such a special place, especially in the summer and early Autumn with those lovely gardens. If you ever return to London, do look up one of Churchill related walks.

My wife and I took a tour of Chartwell this week. We learned more about Churchill, London, English history and culture, and much much more from Richard. Chartwell itself was extraordinary - and a perfect day trip out of London. But Richard really made it even more worthwhile with all the additional context he provided about English life. He was one of the highlights of out 11 day stay in the UK. Well worth every penny.

Chartwell is lovely isn't it? So much to take in and the gardens are always good to see but especially nice in June. We're glad that you enjoyed your tour with Ye Olde England Tours. Richard is something of a national treasure too! Thank-you for touring with us.

From a Travel Agents perspective. I use private touring companies for my clients all the time and Ye Olde England Tours stands out as one of the best. They were friendly and quick with responses to any questions my client had. Recently I confirmed this tour for a solo traveler and she could not have been happier. I made arrangements for her to be met at the airport when she arrived. Her guide *Gilly* was terrific, from the start she made my client feel welcomed. According to my client Gilly is very knowledgeable has personality plus and made her tour very special, she learned a lot and had a lot of fun. It was a wonderful way to start her trip. When she returns to England she has asked that I request Gilly again the next time. Anyone considering confirming a tour with Ye Olde England Tours should not hesitate. You will have a great experience, they take care to make sure you have a wonderful time.

Hi, my wife and I will arrive September 5th at London Heathrow at 7:45am. Can pickup at the airport be arranged for the Chartwell tour, with delivery to the London Marriott Hotel County Hall afterwards?

I can’t speak for the tour operator but I rather doubt it. Taking into account the time it will take to collect your luggage and pass through customs it will be nearly nine o’clock. I suggest taking the train into Paddington and arrange for your guide to meet you there.
Hello. I am planning on traveling to London from April 11 to the 17th, a single traveler. Is there an option for this tour, maybe by joining another group or solo?
