This is a beautiful park! One of the smaller ones, only 88 sites. We had a lovely pull thru (#59) with a great view of the lake. The site had ample sunshine for our fall weather! This is a must visit just outside Kapaskasing!

This was a wonderful camping trip. I've never seen a park so clean. When I first walked into the washroom I stopped in my tracks at how spotless it was. All the sites are spotless as well. A lot of people have sites they stay at all season and they are beautiful. Flowers and decor etc. Maybe it was the time we were there but we felt like we almost had the place to ourselves. We fished and swam off the dock which was right next to our site that faced west over the water. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

28 days 8 Ontario Provincial Parks
Travelling 2+2 2 dogs 2 humans almost 4000 km.
Rene Brunelle is a Provincial park we would go back to. Multi level electric waterfront site with amazing sunsets.
Mosquitos plentiful but controlled with Thermacells and mosquito coils. Able to sit out most times, some great campfires

I would probably say my experience here was good, but also unique: The park had been officially closed 2 weeks earlier to the campsites. The only accommodations left open was the cabin -- which I had chosen. After my stay, they were closing the park entirely for the season. So for my stay, not only was I the only one in the park -- literally -- they were closing the park down behind me.
Speaking specially about the cabin accommodations, it was very, very clean, isolated -- which I personally like -- with an incredible view of the lake. It included a small series of steps down to the water and in theory I could've gone for a swim -- if it wasn't flurrying outside.
The grounds were very well-kept (and empty) with a small beach as a part of the park. Now if you're one for hikes and overlooks, you're not really going to find them at this park. But if you're looking for a quieter, out-of-the-way place this seems to be the place.
Now that said, because I was the only one in the park, I certainly cannot comment on the noise levels, the sorts of people attending the park, nor things like how busy it is. But given its location and the various other reviews, my suspicion is this is one of the quieter parks.
I only met one staff member. She was friendly, welcoming, and happy to explain the various park and cabin amenities.

Very nice well kept Park! We enjoyed a 2 night stay. Our site was private # 72. We launched our kayaks from the Campers beach area. Enjoyed several long bike rides!
Rode to the Day Use & Group camping area 2.5km, Very nice sheltered beach area on the south side. Great biking trail south of the park and near Bonner & Balsam Lakes.
Staff were friendly and happy to assist in anyway they could.

This park was a 2 night stop for us and I wish I’d have kept going. The only people who are pleasant and friendly are the staff. The rest of the park is not! They are all buddies who do not like outsiders. We’ve traveled all over Ontario, specifically Provincial Parks, and this park is the unfriendliest! And for some reason, people can stay here until September 2..weird right? Especially when the rules clearly indicate “23 consecutive nights”. It’s August 5th. We will never come back!

The BEST provincial park in the 28 parks we have visited!!!!! What a gift! Clean, quiet, manicured sandy beaches with play equipment, water front electrical sites and tent camping... we WILL be back next year!!!!

When I say this was our best experience to date, it is with a background of 30+ years of car camping in several dozen Ontario Parks. This park is small, but it was the most relaxing and enjoyable visit. We booked one of the walk-in sites for 4 nights. Apart from a brisk initial day and a half we had a terrific time enjoying a private beach with relatively warm swimming from our site. The walk-in was less than 100m and the nearby washroom was kept in fantastic shape by the staff.
We did not use any of the boat or canoe rentals but all were regularly used during our stay.
Our plan was to leave after the 4 nights but decided to rent the cabin for 2 additional nights after a very personable chat with the senior park staff. It was a bit surreal having a comfy bed and a microwave in the middle of a 2 week camping vacation, to say nothing of the deck and bbq. Cannot recommend this cabin highly enough - they did a great job with it and we expect to come back in the future.
Washrooms and comfort station - cleanest and best maintained we have seen in an Ontario Parks campground.

Decided to visit some relatives near Moonbeam (August 2017), Ontario, and to use our 21 ft trailer. Got site 66 at the park which was a pull-thru. Found the turn off in Moonbeam and abt 10 kms later we arrived at the main gate to check-in at abt 5 pm. The gate is also the store (very small selection of items). Check-in was smooth and friendly. Unfortunately there was a boil water advisory. We normally bring our own drinking water, so this was not an issue for us. There was a bear warning sign but we saw no bears during our stay. The water filling station was on the right hand side just before the first left turn for trailer sites. Filled up with no problem. Leaving the water filling station, we crossed the road and entered trailer/tent sites and easily found site 66, which was large enough to set up our screen tent. Fire pit had been cleaned and was located in a good spot. Outhouses located close to site 66 and were clean, with a sink and mirror. Comfort station (showers, etc) a bit further way, and we chose to drive to the parking area; clean and hot water in showers. Dock located close to site 66 and quite large. We accessed main beach by driving and also on a path located near site 66; a nice beach area and shallow for children; no life guards. There is a day-use beach but quite a drive on main park road. Wardens only available during the day, but no noise from other campers so this was OK. Some sites have been rented on a seasonal basis and are quite elaborate, flower boxes, etc. Tip - The meat at the Coop in Moonbeam is to die for - we had three BBQs of steak that melted in our mouths. We also had the Quebec poutin at the Twin Lakes Campground which was absolutely delicious. Kapuskasing is abt 15 min drive away if you want bigger stores. Had a great 6 nights and would stay again.

This is one of the few parks that have really accessible walk in sites. 91 and 95 are the best and give you great privacy with each having there own sand beach. You definitely have to walk in quite a bit to get to deeper water.

The sites that you stayed at Rene Brunelle ? Was it a long drop to the water to go kayaking ? Were they a good spot to launch from ?
